Sometimes they stall though but I stand my ground and eventually get out of there without any tears on their end. Routine works really well with my kids and I try everything to get them to stick with it even if sometimes they like to try something new. For a while, my youngest made me put his book in the office every night after we read it. He likes his space and I think he needs a few minutes to decompress alone before he falls asleep. He'll keep standing, wanting to play if we're in there. We do bedtime stories, potty and a song and we leave. She's 2 years 4 months and she's just starting to try stalling bedtime with taking a long time on the potty and she does get upset sometimes but it's not negotiable and we tell her it's bedtime and we leave the room and she's fine after a minute. She had 3 stuffed animals that she loves in her bed so she's fine after a minute.
