DD started saying "yeah" around 14-15 months, and at 19 months sometimes says "yeah" and sometimes says "yesssss."

DS (also 19 months) usually nods his head yes, but occasionally says "yeah" or "uh huh" with a big head nod. I must say "yeah" more than "yes" because they both started with that. When I ask a question and they nod, I try to parrot back "yes, you would like more blueberries?" or whatever we were talking about.

Everyone says that my son is extremely verbal for his age. (I don't have any other kids to compare him to.) He is now 21mos. He can count to ten and recently started to identify colors. And he can construct grammatically correct sentences. He can definitely pronounce the word 'yes' and will parrot it if we ask. But he NEVER says 'yes'. He just says "mhmmm". That definitely means yes, but for whatever reason he prefers to just say "mhmmm".

For a long time she would just repeat what I said instead of saying yes. So I would say "do you want some milk?" and she would say "want some milk." She's 2 (28 months) and finally started saying "yes" a few months ago.

She mostly says "yeah", but she does know "yes" and uses it occasionally. She's 18 months.

edit: she started saying yeah pretty early-- around her first birthday, I think. Yes came much later. But I think that's because we are more likely to say yeah than yes!

DD was saying yes at around 1 and a half.

At 23 months my son doesn't say yes consistently yet. He will nod his head most of the time when meaning yes. He is in the 'no' phase. Even when he nods his head yes he says "no". I think I've heard him say "yeah" once or twice.

My 18 month old very very rarely, if ever, says "yes". I've gotten her to parrot "Yexxxx" after me a few times, but she never uses it independently.

I used to think she only said "no" because she liked the reaction she got or wanted to keep power (like when we ask "do you love daddy?" Or "did you go poo poo?"....but now she's started nodding in response to some of those questions, and I think maybe she just can't say "Yes"! Or maybe it's just not her personality to be so agreeable, haha. :)

Does your toddler say yes to answer questions? When did s/he start saying it?

Note: I'm not concerned - DD's vocabulary and speech are great...I've just noticed this nuance recently and am curious!
