@sorrycharlie: We found that the key thing was to find other ways to deliver undivided attention. That resolved a lot of the annoying attention gambits we had been seeing!!

@mrbee: my mom told me to ignore her too. it's so hard! we're very similar personalities so she knows just how to push my buttons, lol. I'll try ignoring this afternoon and see if she eventually quits!

@sorrycharlie: I got a lot of mileage out of completely ignoring gambits for attention! Then later, I'd take my eldest on a 1:1 walk around the block.

I am so trying to keep my head. Like Mrs. Blue wrote in her blog post...I can't expect her to act like an adult. But oh my goodness. She's driving me batty!!!!

She'll be 2.5 next month. Lately, she'll almost taunt me! She'll go to do something she isn't supposed to do and wait for me to notice, or do it and laugh and laugh, or something. Her latest fresh behavior is growl/screaming at me - commands, demands, or just talking that way because she's ticked for whatever reason. I do a lot of, "that's not nice. I can't understand you when you talk like that." or, "when you talk nicely, I'll listen."

now - I think maybe it's her version of telling a joke? - she will talk like that and before I can even say anything she laughs and says "thaaaaat's not nice!" . Which is funny, I guess, except that the previous growl-scream wakes C every single time.
