@kml636: i'm guessing they meant to say 'in the rear of the car' not rear facing =D a 12 rear facing would be kinda crazy unless you had one of those backwards 3rd row seats.

I plan to keep him rear facing as long as possible. He doesn't seem to mind it because he has the mirror on the backseat and since he was about 6 months old he realized he can see us through the mirror too. It's eased a lot of anxiety in the car :)

I just have to add that we installed our car seat last weekend and I SWEAR the instructions said children should be rear facing until the age of 12!!!! Must be a typo, right?

She is 11.5 months and still rear facing...no plans to change so far. We run errands at 1-2 times a day and she has no problem in her car seat so far. I have one of those mirrors attached to the back seat so I can see her and she has several toys back there.

We switched my DS to forward facing at around 1. He went through a brief phase where he hated his car seat so we thought we would try forward facing him and he loved it.

My 18 month old is still rear facing. He only hit 20 pounds at 17 months so he couldn't have forward faced anyway. I plan to rear face him until he is 40 pounds.

13 months rear facing, but she's still in her infant seat. She's got a few more inches and 12 more pounds in it (lol), so she'll be in it for a while. We'll install the next seat forward facing, but that won't be for 3-9 months.

Almost 19 months still rear facing, even though he's tall and has a broken leg currently- ha! I guess he just doesn't know any different, but I don't see any reason to to switch yet.

We are rearfacing at 13 month. He hates it. I think part of the problem is that our britax that DD also used was designed when ppl only rear faced to 1 yr, and I think the newer models may have more leg room.

I could not put up with daily fits. She was so happy to face forward.

We faced Charlie forward when he turned 1. That was before the AAP recommend rear facing until 2. But we don't own a car so Charlie only rides in one a couple times a year. Since he wasn't used to sitting in a car, he'd throw fits being strapped into the car seat. Facing forward helped a lot.

Does your under 2 yo baby forward or rear face?
