Yep, windshield wiper here too. I am trying to teach him to just put his arms out and say "all done!" He does it...and then windshield wipers.
But I will say that occasionally (a few times a week) he will instead hand me what's on his tray. This morning he had waffle and yogurt. When he was done with waffle he handed me the pieces and then pointed at the yogurt. So hoping we are turning a corner!
I've also found that it helps to not leave more than a few pieces at a time. I used to load up the tray. Bad idea!

@erinbaderin: haha "milk sleeping". where do kids get this stuff.

this is one of the reasons why i'm reluctant to start solids with LO2. trying to keep things simpler for as long as possible.

Yep! She still does this at 20 months if we don't catch it in time. Our dogs have stopped eating the berries she flings, lol, they've gotten sick of them

Yes!! Does this ever end? We have 2 dogs and 2 cats and even the cats will eat the scraps now. We have to lock all the animals up while she eats because she also likes watching them eat her food and will throw it for fun even if she's still hungry. I try to only give her a few bites at a time because sometimes it just all goes in the floor and its soooo frustrating

Yeah, Bennett is almost two and he still does this, although not as much. For a while whenever he was finished he'd just frantically start waving his arms swiping everything to the ground before we could grab it. It was REALLY frustrating. Now when he's done he usually starts tipping over his juice/milk cup saying "Milk sleeping!"

Oh yes, I remember this stage well. Even now, at 2.5, she starts squeezing and mangling her food when she has finished.

Yup. Windshield wipes everything off. I just try not to react and say "oh, that means you're all done." and take him out of his high chair.

I forgot how much I did not like this stage ha! My daughter is 11 months old - I'm trying to teach her how to sign "all done" but she doesn't really seem to care. She's started tossing the contents of her tray onto the floor when she's finished. She was just happily eating breakfast and I left the room for a minute, and came back to a giant mess of watermelon and cheerios..sigh.

I do have a dog, but he's on a diet so he isn't supposed to eat her scraps all day!
