Yep!! My 15 week old has moved to a poop a day and when that first started, he'd be grunting and straining and fussy all morning until he got it out. That went on about 2ish weeks and now he doesn't seem to be making such a big deal about it, unless he doesn't get it out in the morning, then he starts getting mad about it midday.

Mine has the opposite problem. 14 weeks and still pooing all the time.

Maybe keep a journal of when he does poo, and if he starts going less than 3x a week, put a call in to the doctors office or advice nurse.

@sarahbs: I think for breastmilk-fed babies, it can be pretty normal for them to not poop as often--up to going a few days between poops. Then they end up straining a little to get it all out.

I wouldn't worry too much at this point unless it starts seeming like he's super, super uncomfortable.

The stomach thing--I found that when babies are little, their tummies get huge and shrink a lot after every feed, poop, etc. I think that part is normal.

I have a friend whose baby went almost a week without pooping and finally her ped said she could give an oz of prune juice occasionally--but anything other than milk at 10 weeks can be hard on their little tummies.

Hi, some background -- Baby D is 10 weeks old. We've had some BFing issues so he just gets bottled breastmilk. He eats about 3.5-4 oz per bottle and gets about 24-27 oz per day. He's been gaining weight well.

For the past two weeks, my husband and I have noticed that he hasn't been pooping as much. I know that's normal once they're out of the newborn phase, but he's also been extra gassy and fussy. His stomach will get HUGE and then all of a sudden he'll have what I call a "monster poop" which is this massive wet poop that almost pools in his diaper! It's stinky but is the right color/texture etc. He does this every couple of days.

The doc said grunting/straining and the big poops are normal, but he seems to be grunting and straining all the time, and the extra fussiness is not like him. He's much calmer after the monster poop.

Has anyone ever had this? Am I feeding him too much or is this normal? Thanks for any advice!
