I've always heard that lying is a sign of intelligence and imagination in children!

Yeah, I think it's pretty typical behavior and just experimenting with truth/lies/what other people know. Kids go through a stage where they start to realize that not everyone knows what they know and can't read their mind, so she'll probably grow out of it soon.
It's good that you watched her to see what was really happening!.

My LO was upset because she didn't want to leave daycare the other day and said her teacher hurt her. Her teacher is the sweetest thing so I know it wasn't true. I think it's normal at this age for them to exaggerate

Mine has started to a little bit. She is 2. She said the tiger at the zoo was scary and that he bit her. Ha!

Yep. My twins are two and any time they trip, bump into something, etc. they blame each other. All day long I hear "B pinched me!" "A pushed me!" Sometimes they blame the dog, too. Sometimes one actually did something to the other and sometimes they're just making it up entirely. Also any time B gets hurt, A asks for an ice pack and Frozen bandaid for herself. I assume it's normal and just an attention thing!

I think it's typical...we get a lot of reports after daycare with "so and so hurt me" and a lot of "you hurt me" when we're nowhere near her or brushed past her or something. She's 3.5.

I think it's part of learning cause and effect / a little bit of an attention thing.

We were at the zoo last weekend and my son told me the turtle (in a glass exhibit...) bit him. He wanted it kissed and wanted to be made over. I humored him, but then told him that I was pretty sure the turtle didn't bite him, but if he needed love from Mama he didn't need to get injured, he just needed to ask!

I'm just wondering how typical this is....

E will be 3 next month and we have recently entered a "he hit me" phase. She does it at home to us - you only have to brush past her and she's claiming you pushed her and she's hurt - but the really strange behaviour happens when she's with other kids. Yesterday, we went to soft play with my friend's lad. E kept fake crying and saying he had hit her. I spied on them for a while, thinking "no smoke without fire" and saw them playing happily, then I watched E run off laughing, throw herself on the floor near our table and start crying. I approached her and asked her what was wrong, and she said this poor lad had hit her. Then later, she came to me and showed me a pre-existing graze on her knee, claiming he had done it!

Is this typical for the age or is there something else going on here that I need to deal with?
