@SleepyMonkey: It was around 8 weeks that it started getting better. My memory is already fuzzy but I want to say it was around 10 weeks that we weren't dealing with it anymore. Amazing how fast you can forget all the bad stuff.

Yes, LO was fussy from about 5-7 pm, cluster nursing was all that worked. Then she'd fall asleep for the night. I'd say it lasted from about 3wks-10wks or so

Yep! DD did this from maybe week 2 to week 6 or 7? But she was such a quiet baby the rest of the time, it was the only time we every really heard her cry in those early days! I would nurse her a lot and we would baby wear her and walk around the house (it was winter, so no going out at that hour).

It's so reassuring to hear that others babies did this too! I was beginning to wonder if there was something wrong with her. Hopefully this phase passes soon. I want to enjoy my evenings with DH again.

@catomd00: oh gosh, we do just about anything to keep her calm. The routine has been swaddling her, putting her in her swing with white noise and holding the paci on her mouth. Lol it's so exhausting tho! I hope it ends around 6-8 weeks!

@kml636: yikes, still doing it at 8 weeks?! I don't know if I can take this for 4-8 more weeks!

oh yes, LO #2 fusses/screams/cluster feeds from 5 -8 every night. Then she sleeps really well so I can't complain! LO is 8 weeks, she started this up since she was about 4 weeks. Hopefully it's over by 12 weeks!

Omg yes it was awful! We had our "routine" revert night to help though. Around 6 we went up to our bedroom and turned on white noise super loud, swaddled her and nursed/held her paci for her and she slept in my arms until 9 or 10 when I would gently lie her down! Luckily once she was asleep she was out an easy to get back down in between feeds. It got significantly better as time wore on. I would say by 6-8 weeks it was over completely. Rough times though for a while. I dreaded the end of the day. I found taking a shower and relaxing myself before having to go into the battle zone as I called it really helped!

Yes. Most of the time, it was only an hour. It started promptly at 5pm and I had to stand and walk around with her the whole time but it didn't even work that well. 45 minutes in, I'd be crying and calling my husband to come home from work. He'd walk in at 6:05 and she'd be smiling and cheerful.
I did find something that worked -- Family Feud. Something about the dings and maybe the clapping. Once I put that on, she'd be quiet.

My LO is two weeks old and she has a witching "hour" from around 10:30pm to 3:00am everyday. Nothing seems to console her during this time!

However the rest of the day she sleeps like an angel! Good 3 hour stretches most of the time, sometimes up to 5! Inbetween she just wakes up to eat and promptly falls asleep again. When she does stay awake for a while in the day she is happy to look around the room and isn't fussy at all. She's such a good baby except for that 4-5 hour stretch at night.

Yup!!! LO 1's was like your DD , from 5pm till about well past midnight she was just awwwful. Not that she wasn't fussy during the day but it was just super worse during the witching hours. I think hers ended somewhere around 3-4 months?

With LO 2,hers is from about 9-11pm ish. If she is not asleep by 9 she will scream and scream. So with no exception I make sure we're in the bedroom, lights off, sound machine on by 8:30 pm the latest!!!

DS did. It was horrible. He would cry and cry no matter what we did. It started around 3 weeks and went until he was about 9-10 weeks old. Evenings weren't fun around our house for quite some time! It just seemed to disappear one day, though.

DD is 8 weeks old and has yet to seem to have a witching hour. We're crossing our fingers and hoping we avoid it altogether this time around.

DD is 4 weeks old and is such a fussy little girl every evening. It's like she turns into a whole new baby starting around 5 pm. No matter how I hold her, she is unhappy and cries. If we manage to get her to sleep, it lasts all of 10-20 minutes. She has been really difficult to get down for the night. It's been taking to almost midnight everyday. :( On the plus side tho, the last two nights she slept 6 hours!

Does/did your newborn go through a witching "hour" everyday? I put it in quotes, because hers seems to last much longer than an hour.
