$40 a night for one dog. It's pricey, especially when you are gone for a week but she LOVES it. They have supervised play all day and their own sleep space at night. The day they go home they get a bath. We also get a report card of her mood and other notes. Pretty sure she would stay there all the time if she could.

@Happygal: We left her for 9 days once and I totally cried when we left!

@Danizaur: lol, my dogs def don't need a flat screen tv or movies, or a bedtime story! they'd be happy about the ice cream though ;) that's ridiculous!

Boarding dogs makes me so sad! But I think it's way worse for the humans than it is for dogs. I looked into one place that had a base price and then a la carte items, like "pets and cuddles" for 10 minutes. Booo. I usually leave my dog with the breeder where we got her from, and that's $25 a night, or I have a trusted sitter who comes to our home. It motivates me to clean and have the house in order when someone is staying here!

@Danizaur: Man, I could send him to Disney for about the same amount of money!! When we used the last place, DH called to book and he rolled his eyes at the "special packages." One was a platinum one that included bedtime music and a story. He said the lady sounded a bit ridiculous for having to describe it to him. Yeah, there's no way in he!l my dog is getting a bedtime story, LOL!

Um ours is apparently super expensive, $75 a night for 2 dogs (includes an hour of play and two walks). We get 1/2 off all day play when you board them (usually $30), so we usually have them do a couple of play days if it's longer than a weekend (oh and the ADP has a live video stream).

@LindsayInNY: Our kennel never posts pictures of my dog! Last time he stayed he was only one of three dogs boarded at the time. It was a slow week. And she posted pictures of both of the other dogs but not him! I was like, SERIOUSLY?

Off topic but you can board your dogs at disney world for like $500+ a week and they get an ice cream break once a day, a flat screen tv that plays Disney dog movies all day, and get read a bedtime story before bed.

...what.

That's great and all but that's a little extravagant! We watched the live cam of the kennels and there was actually a woman reading two dogs a bedtime story.

$44 a night with pet cams. We have to drive into the city which can be pro or a con based on when we leave for our trip. If it comes down to it, I'll have her stay in doggie daycare so I can pick her up on my way home from work.

In home boarder costs $40 a night with no pet cams. She is local, though.

I prefer paying the extra $4 for pet cams. It great seeing how my dog is doing while we are out of town.

My dog is not boarded today but you can watch the webcam to see other dogs playing. http://www.downtowndoglounge.com/webcams.html

@LindsayInNY: ooh yeah, that's hard! rates will probably be higher too for the holiday :( we're really lucky in that my in-laws are always happy to take the dogs, but they're in DC so it's super annoying--we end up having to rent a car to drive, then take at least 2 extra days for a trip to drop them off, plus then we usually feel bad if we don't stay longer.

@nana87: That's the issue we're having! I wish I could find a dogsitter or someone to stay at my place. If it were a long weekend, that'd be one thing but it's over Thanksgiving.

we've never boarded our dogs, but the place we would send them if we couldn't find a dogsitter is crazy expensive--$75 per 24 hours each! Plus more if we want them to go to the day care as well to have extra play time. NYC prices for everything are insane. Thank goodness we've always been able to arrange for friends or family to take care of our pups!

$14 a night if we provide food, which we do. That includes administering his meds, an indoor/outdoor room where he can go in and out as he pleases, and multiple play times a day in the play yard with the other doggies.

ETA: play time is being turned out to play with the other dogs his size. I don't believe there is any human interaction during that time but that's okay. He gets lots of love when they give him his medicine and feed him.

The place we used last time was $35/night plus at least one mandatory play time since it was during a peak time. One play session is $10 (overnight includes 3 walks). I just hate that he is probably stuck in a cage (well, "hotel room") the rest of the time :(

We pay $14 a night for our big dog and we bring food. We have a good relationship with the owners so they let our chihuahua sleep in the same kennel as the big dog for a discounted rate. I think we pay $5 a night for her.

We haven't boarded our dog yet, but at the place where I will use, it will be $35/day. But that includes everything. This place is awesome too. They are out and playing all day long (not kenneled for a "nap time" or anything) and then just put in their own little room (4 feet by 6 feet) with a dog bed in there at night.

Now, since we moved, we're having to use boarding facilities and man are they expensive! I don't know if I'm just out of touch with pricing or what... How much does it cost to board your dog? Does the place have an all-in-one price or do they charge a la carte (overnight stay one price, play time one price, etc.)?
