@Foodnerd81: Our goodwill wouldn't take them and if I couldn't consign them then we donated them thru the Disabled Veterans of America - they come to your house and pretty much take anything

I've donated stuffed toys to mission groups taking them to disaster relief sites (like the area of the Philippines hit by a typhoon earlier this year), and small grassroots charities that help out families (such as those supporting refugee groups) - when I asked them if they minded taking used soft items, their reply was that while they certainly hoped no one ever donated anything that might be buggy, sadly, where the things are going they'll most likely get infested pretty quickly anyway. So any group you know is helping the poorest of the poor would probably be happy to have these toys!

Maybe even a church in a less fortunate area near your town would want them to distribute to kids of parishoners or use in their daycare/nursery? A soup kitchen or homeless shelter (again, to distribute to kids who pass through)? My guess is that organizations where the items will be given away rather than sold will be less picky!

I've had luck finding these organizations who are so thankful for the soft toys/bedding on a local moms' group I belong to on Facebook - lots of mamas out there doing amazing things with their spare time! :)

We have a bag of hand me down toys from my nephew that we don't want, mostly plush things. I know a lot of donation centers are strict about those kinds of things (for good reason, bed bugs and what not) but I know they are fine, we just have plenty so don't want to keep them. Does anyone know of any kinds of places that could use them? I hate throwing things out, but I also understand why places wouldn't take them.
