I was going to suggest checking with the doctor about aspirated food too. My boss at my college job had that issue with her young son and from what I remember it was similar - coughing/sickness but no signs of being run down like allergies or a cold might do. It's worth mentioning to the doctor as a concern if you think it could be the case.

Oh my. I am so sorry.

I just had a friend who's daughter had inhaled a piece or almond sliver. It was in her lungs causing her to cough and wheeze. Can they do a chest X-ray?

My son is just over 2 years old now. For the last 2 months he has had a cough. Every single day at least 3 times during the day/night sometimes a lot more and sometimes a lot worse. To the point the he will cough and vomit. Doctor has said it is allergies so he has been on allergy meds for the last 4 weeks. With little to no improvement. Today, he is running a very low fever (warm to the touch but we can't get a good reading on a thermometer). He's definitely off but still playing around and has lots of energy. It's probably just something going around but I don't know how much to worry or think. We will go to the doctor tomorrow.
