I have both. My manual is the 28ish dollar lanisoh from amazon and I loooooove it. It's actually way more effective for me (besides having to do each side separately. I love being able to roam around the house with it and not feel "strapped in" to the double electric (even though that one will run on batteries and let me move around too). The manual is just so easy! I say totally worth it.

I have both and I only use the manual. It's just easier for me because I only pump one side 1x a day. I pump in the morning after LO has nursed on one side and it's just easier to reach over and grab it to start pumping than to get all the parts and stuff hooked up for the electric. I also like that I can control the speed of the manual more.

I love my hand pump - it's the one that came with the parts to the medela symphony I used in the hospital. Not sure if that exact model can be purchased retail, but I love the convenience of throwing it in my bag and being able to pump a bit on the go to relieve some pressure, or to get a few ounces quickly..

I have both. I haven't used the manual in a long time, but I used it a ton in the beginning to help with engorgement. I kept it by the bed. I think I would use it more if I was away from LO more.

I have both and almost never touch the manual BUT it's nice for traveling when you don't think you'll need to pump but you never know. Or for working through a plugged duct. You can also use it in the shower which obviously is not a good idea with a double electric!

I have both and definitely think it's worth it, though obviously not necessary. Most of the time I feel too tired to get my electric all set up when I'm home and it's just so nice to grab the manual and use that, especially at night when I only want to pump a little to decrease engorgement so I can sleep better!

I have both. Actually, I have 2 manuals, 1 I keep at work because I made the mistake of leaving some pieces from my double electric at home and desperately needed to pump so I had to run out and buy one on my lunch break.

I have and used both. I got a Medela manual at BBB with a 20% off coupon and it came in handy often. Obviously I didn't use it as much as my electric, but I feel I got my money out of it. I mostly kept it with me in case I ever needed to pump and I didn't have my electric with.

I have a double electric hygeia pump which is great for when I'm away at work and need to pump quickly and efficiently. But sometimes at home, I'd like to pump a little or one side and I think that doing the whole set up would be annoying so I don't do it. I was thinking that maybe a simple manual pump would accomplish what I want. Anyone have both? Is it worth the $40 for a manual pump when I already have an electric?
