try posting an "in search of" post on your mom list serve. i find that sometimes people just don't get around to point for sale, but they will respond if you ask directly.

We have a used UBV and love it. Great for brooklyn sidewalks and I love the option of the second seat or the ride on board for my older one.

@Anagram: oooh I'm not on that one - just one for my Brooklyn 'hood and UES Moms. I'd LOVE to score something like a used Joovy; it seems all that comes up here are City Selects/City Minis and Mountain Buggy - they're still generally $250-$350 and go super duper fast.

@catomd00: thanks! Do you own one? My big concern on the budget category of strollers is the durability of the wheels.

I think the new contours is a good, budget friendly option.

Edited for clarity :)

After a few recent meltdowns due to my 3 year old not wanting to ride the buggy board and my 1 year old not wanting to be worn, I think I've finally decided I'd like to get a double stroller for shopping and longer outings. Since it won't be my everyday stroller and I don't expect to need it for a very long time, I'm hoping to find a budget-friendly stroller ($250 or less) that will do the job.

Either side by side or tandem could work, but I NEED a single handlebar (no umbrella strollers) and wheels that can handle rough terrain (a Graco entry level model probably won't cut it).

I'm looking at the Contours options Elite Tandem, or the Combi Fold n Go - but am nervous about the wheel quality. I'd consider a used higher end stroller from our local listserv (Cuty Select, UppaBaby Vista), but those go so quickly that I'm not sure im willing to devote the time to snagging one.

Thanks for any advice!
