Mine are two years apart and we actually have never needed a double stroller. At 2 my oldest decided he doesn't like the stroller and wanted to walk and my youngest doesn't like it either, so I wear him. I only use the stroller if he falls asleep in the car seat. Glad we kept our single stroller.

@getjazzy: we use the b ready as a double. We keep older LO in the bottom and he doesn't mind at all. The only thing he doesn't seem to like is that he is so low he can't press the buttons to cross the street. I will say I don't like how he can easily reach the wheels. He doesn't always try but we did really have to work to get him to not do it.
We tried to put the infant carrier on the bottom but we don't have a britax and couldn't get it to work with the two adapters. I kind of prefer having the baby up higher anyway.
I did consider getting a different stroller vs buying the secondseat but I'm happy we stuck with ours!

@ShootingStar: I haven't actually tested it in doubles mode... I will now though, thanks for the input!

@littleveesmommy: Ah! Thank you so much, your review was super helpful because I didn't realize the second seat folded to flat! Does it go fully upright too? Or just the same as the main seat? I always found LO would try to pull himself to a more vertical position than the seat would allow and I would shove blankets behind him to have him more upright... hoping to avoid that issue again.

@SeptMomma12: Good question because if we keep the b-ready, I was planning on getting the adapter to have the carseat down below.

@Anagram: Thanks! That's good to know about the tipping. I figure it's worth at least trying it that way before we cough up the money for a whole new double stroller. LO #1 will be 2 yrs 8 months when baby comes, so I'm not sure he'll tolerate a stroller long enough to justify the cost!

@SeptMomma12: I have a friend who puts the infant seat on the bottom for exactly that reason--the only thing you should know is that if your older child gets out of the top seat while the car seat is snapped onto the bottom, the B-ready can tip.

My friend doesn't have this issue as the stroller is like her car and she always has a ton of stuff in the basket to stabilize the load. But when I freaked out about the possibility, she told me I can always just throw my huge diaper bag into the top seat if LO #1 wants to get out and walk for some reason. So then I stopped panicking.

I already have the second seat that I got last year on No Better Deal for just $70, so now I think I'll buy the adapters so I have all the options.

Sorry to threadjack, but has anyone with the B-Ready put the infant seat on the bottom? My 2 year old is already too heavy for the second seat (35 lb limit). Just wondering if it's hard to push with the car seat on the bottom.

We have the B-Ready and, like you, bought it during the Free Ride event before DD1 was born (we got a free Chaperone infant car seat). We loved the stroller as a single and before DD2 was born, I often wondered how much I will love it as a double and afraid one of the kids will feel shunted from sitting on the bottom/back. DD2 was born in July and I used it in doubles mode a lot during my maternity leave. The verdict? It's great! We debated between getting the second seat or the bottom car seat adapter, and the second seat won out since it will be used for a longer period of time. We were able to put DD2 in the second seat right away since it reclines to almost flat (the top seat is 6+ months only and second seat is from birth) and DD1 was able to keep her seat. On days where DD1 wanted to ride on the bottom because it was cooler, we just snapped DD2's carseat into the top. I really liked this flexibility! Now that DD2 is 6 months old, she can sit in either seat and I don't really see any conflicts other than the occasional stubborn toddler.

Note: DD1 is turning 3 in a few weeks and DD2 is 6 months, so they are about 2.5 years apart.

ETA: DD1 is 80% for height at almost 3 and we are still able to use a good portion of the basket when is in the second seat. She still loves riding in the stroller due to *ahem* jealousy. :silly:

Have you tested out the City Select as a double? We were debating both the b-ready and the city select and we tried out both as doubles because we want to have our kids close together. As much as I wanted to like the city select more, I just didn't. It was really hard to maneuver as a double, especially with weight in it. But the b-ready still maneuvered really easily.

@Sparkler: I saw an UB Indie twin on CL that I am considering, but don't know a ton about it. You've been happy with yours? What doors does it fit/not fit through? Did you use an infant carseat with it? Can your child sit pretty upright if the want? Sorry about all the questions!

@getjazzy: We actually bought a B-Ready when we were pregnant with #2 (had a B-Agile before that) because we preferred it over the City Select. Our older child likes riding in the bottom seat because it's "cooler" and she like climbing in and out. Also, the stroller can fold with the second seat in-- with the City Select, you have to take the second seat out, hold it separately, and then fold the stroller. The B-Ready also didn't feel as "long"-- more like driving an SUV than a limo (which is what the City Select felt like for us).

We got the carseat adapter as a gift, and to be honest, we rarely used it. We would have C in the bottom seat, and the new baby either snapped into the bucket on top, or we would recline the regular top seat and have him in it (almost like a bassinet). When you get the second seat, it comes with these little extenders for the main seat that you can pop in, moving the main seat a few inches away from the bottom seat rider's head, giving him/her a little more room.

I guess my point is to not write off the B-Ready as a double completely-- now that H is a little older and can sit up, we have him in the bottom seat, and C's back on top. We switch them around, too. How about keeping the B-Ready as your "commuter" stroller and buying a used double BOB? That's what we have going on-- BOB for walks around the neighborhood (and if we are doing any big park trips or beach trips), and the B-Ready for regular outings that require the car and trunk space.

@getjazzy: ahh gotcha. Too bad you are waaaay far away or you could have my B-Safe, pops right in! But I guess having to bend down to reach the baby isn't ideal anyway. You could also investigate a stroller board for your older kiddo...Britax has one, or Joovy makes a good universal one.

@tororojo: you can also put the baby on the bottom, which eliminates the feet-in-the-basket problem. You can put the car seat on the bottom and then when LO is 4-5 months you can switch to the regular seat. Their feet will be too short to go in the basket.

I just tried my 18 months old in the second seat when I got home because of this thread, and her feet don't really go in the basket--I mean, they are at the back of the basket, but the B-ready has the zip at the front and the rest of the basket is still empty and can be used.

But I plan on keeping her up top and the baby on the bottom.

@tororojo: It can but the infant seat goes down by your feet, not up at eye level. I don't have too much of a problem with that but I would need to buy an adapter and at this point if I'm not going to commit to it long term I don't want to spend anymore money on it. It's an option though.

@getjazzy: I don't have a B-Ready but can't the infant seat pop in to face you while the older kid faces out? Maybe that configuration would get you through most of your maternity leave without having to buy a new stroller, plus no feet in the basket.

I had this same issue. I used the UBV with the rumble seat for about 8 months and always hated it. Really hard to maneuver and just didn't love it. I bought a used side by side double (bumbleride indie twin) for the same price I sold the UBV with rumble seat for. It's so much easier, comfortable and convenient!

@getjazzy: We were in pretty much the same situation. We kept the B-Ready but it ended up taking a year to have our second child, so they are 3 years apart. We hardly ever have a need right now for a double with this age spacing. If the older child does need a break, one of us baby wears or carries the baby for a bit and lets her rest.

I really enjoyed on my maternity leave having the option of just the single. My older child was also in school often so for trips to the grocery store with just the baby, I could easily use my stroller.

I too struggle to decide to splurge on a better option when a serviceable one is available but I suspect you might find this worthwhile.

In the US, it's around $120 for the second seat for the b ready, the select can be found for around $500 including the second seat. Can you sell your stroller for a significant part of the difference?

I have the select and love it but I haven't used the b ready. I have used the older uppa baby as a double though and can't say I love it.

@mrbee: We live in the suburbs. Right now we don't use the stroller much (winter in Canada is not stroller friendly!) but in the summer we used it a lot. Plus, maternity leave here is a year and I'm very active with mommy group outings for walks, zoo/park visits. LO#1 will be in daycare still but I will probably cut him down to 3 days a week so I will have both kids with me for at least 2 days a week plus weekends.

@Anagram: This is exactly why I have the dilemma.. I have trouble splurging on something when I know I have a perfectly functional solution currently.

I also have a B ready that we got during the Free Ride event the summer before LO was born. Just from a financial perspective, my personality is to make the B-ready work over shelling out more money for a City Select. When on mat leave and on summers, I never drive at all, so I take our stroller everywhere--grocery shopping, restaurants, play dates, walks, errands....

I would only get a different stroller if it were free or less that $100 or something.

But my husband is extremely frugal and I am semi frugal, so it's just our personality.

We bought the city select (had a city mini which we loved!) when our second was born. Our two kids are 23 months apart. I am not sure how long my older one will want to ride, but right now she loves riding. I have only had the stroller for six months, but I have loved it. I feel like I have so much freedom and am able to go anywhere with the two kids by myself. It is a little heavy; however, I think most double strollers are fairly heavy. It is definitely manageable. As someone else mentioned, I also love that I can use it as a single stroller for just one of the kids if the other one doesn't need to ride.

I'm not much of a help, but I'm having the same problem.

We have a UBV (older model) and I'm not in love with the rumbleseat (the new ones look WAAAAAY better). My ds will be 2.5 when LO2 arrives.

I'm thinking of adding a double stroller, and keeping the UBV for when ds1 outgrows the stroller phase or when just taking out 1 of them.

I dunno!!!!

We got a city select. My Los will be 30 months apart. I liked that I could use it as a single or double depending on who wanted to ride. I also like the Configuration better than the be ready. It is kind of heavy though. I never tried the b ready so.i can't compare.

@getjazzy: Do you live in the city or the suburbs? Wondering how often you use your stroller now...
