I would skip it. My two are also 3 years apart. We live in a city with no car, so the stroller is our car. That said, we skipped the double and got the ride on board instead. It worked out perfectly and my older one rarely complained about not being able to sit (maybe 2 times ever).

depends on your lifestyle. we lived in ny where we walked everywhere and kids were 22 months apart. used it like crazy and replaced it when it broke!

if you don't use a stroller much now though, you probably don't need a double.

I like having a double stroller now because we walk a lot but I think you could easily do without. Mine are 26 months apart and we just got a used double this weekend at 3.5yo/16mo. Not having one was limiting the distance we could cover to what LO1 would walk. I preferred pushing a single and wearing LO2 until this point.

We didn't use a stroller often with LO1 but often enough that we got a double when LO2 came along (They are just shy of 2 years apart) and we rarely used it. In fact, I sold it this summer. I found that I just wore LO2 and LO1 was in the stroller or LO1 was on his Strider bike and LO2 was in the stroller. I'd say skip it.

If you don't use it now, I wouldn't. When we lived in another city we almost never used our single. Then we moved to a walking city and our use pattern totally changed. I'm 36 weeks and we just bought a double compatible stroller because we walk everywhere now. We won't bother with the doubles kit until baby 2 can sit up, but it's not realistic for DD1 to be able to walk as much as we do. If we still lived in Old City, I probably wouldn't bother either.

Mine are 26 months apart and we never needed one. We ditched strollers as soon as we could- once both of mine hit two, they only ever wanted to walk and if needed I wore my youngest. We did get a foldable wagon for our youngest's second birthday, it has been a real hit, wish I'd gotten it sooner.

DD1 was 3.5 when DD2 was born in May. We skipped the double stroller. If we're out somewhere on a full day excursion, I babywear and put older sis in the umbrella stroller. She's in kindergarten though, so I don't have both at home on a regular basis.

My parents bought us an expensive one when LO2 was born. I thought it would be great but honestly we've hardly used it except for some neighborhood walks. We drive everywhere we go and my older kid is pretty reliable in terms of following directions so I feel like she can usually walk. If I could do it over I would skip it.

We bought our Maclaren Twin Techno when DS was 3.5 and DD was 1.5. I LOVE this stroller, we bought it second-hand off craigslist. We have a Maclaren Quest single stroller, second-hand off craigslist too. DS often falls asleep in the stroller and DD was getting too big for me to wear in the Ergo for extended amounts of time.

@MrsB2012: @Alivoo01: I think I am just going to skip it all together. Thanks ladies.

@KayKay: That's a great thought! I would really prefer that! Something simple and easy to use.

I wouldn't get a double at this point. If you are really missing it/wishing you had one later, you can always pick one up. But it doesn't sound like you guys are big stroller users, and they are expensive!

What about having her get you a snap-n-go or something that would be super lightweight & easy to use when new baby is still in the infant bucket? Then you can ditch the Baby Trend one you have collecting dust.

If y'all hardly used a stroller with #1, I would say skip a double. DS is 3yo but enjoys sitting in one so it was worth it for us.

I bought a double stroller ( but not the second seat) for #1. I ended up not using it as we babywore instead. With #2, I still never used it as I continued to babywear (tandem usually.) Fianlly this summer, we bought a double bob jogger as we walk lots with the dog and carrying 2 kids was getting too much. I love the double bob, but only ever use it to walk the dog. If you aren't planning on walking frequently, and aren't using a stroller now, you probably still won't use a stroller

My MIL has been asking me what type of double stroller I need when LO2 comes, but I'm wondering if it's necessary.

DS is 2 and will be 3 when LO2 comes along. We have two strollers currently. The first one is baby trend the one that came with the car seat. It's huge and after DS became old enough we dodged it and it's collecting dust in the basement. We have just a regular lightweight stroller from babies r us, that we love. It closes easily and be tossed in the trunk without having to rearrange anything.

Here's the thing, we NEVER use our stroller. We only use it on vacation or if we go somewhere with lots of walking (like the pumpkin patch). When DS was first born we would use it to go to the mall just to get out of the house but idk if we'll do the same with LO2.

I would just hate for MIL to buy one and it barely get used but I would also hate to need it and not have it.

So basically...what stroller would you suggest or should I do away with it all together?
