<description>&#60;p&#62;I paid $500 for a doula who just received her certification. She had 6 births under her belt prior to me (not counting her own two birth experiences as a mother). Six births isn't a lot, but I was comfortable with her personality, demeanor, and training... And I didn't want to spend too much either.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;So for your price range, try to see if you can get someone who needs certification hours or just graduated. I asked my OB office for a referral.
