I hated using them, though, because they never stuck on very well and I hated washing them. I literally had 6 of them. It was never a problem for us. I tried to wean from them a few times but it would always make LO so mad. I had a great supply and was able to wean dd off of the shield once she was "old enough" to figure out how to nurse without it. I plan on keeping it for as long as we need to, I also do try to encourage her to latch naturally here &amp; there. </p> <p>I've read that some babies one day suddenly just decide they don't need it anymore! I had a meeting with an LC this morning about weaning from the shield and she said there is really no reason I couldn't, but baby girl is so sleepy I am having a very hard time getting her to latch without it. </p> <p>I am perfectly content to continue using it, but is there a reason I shouldn't? My supply isn't an issue, and she is gaining just like she should. </p> <p>Thanks! </p>
