@Foodnerd81: yeah, I understand, I wanted it under my son’s rash guard! (Although it’s really very very common among young kids. My oldest has never gotten it despite baths etc and pedi said she almost definitely has immunity just from being around other kids).

If you treat at home - I used this and I used to also dab tea tree oil from TJs. But the latter did sting though probably most effective . I think the point of treatment is honestly to call attention to the spot (ie cause damage) to call the immune system over.

@bhbee: I’ll prob give it another week and see how it is before making an appointment. My younger one has a nurse appointment in two weeks for the blood draw to test for Lyme anyway, so I could switch it to a doctors visit. It’s mostly under pants now but they do take swimming lessons.

@Foodnerd81: from my experience if you really think that’s what it is, I’d just wait until your next appt for whatever reason and ask then. It’s a harmless virus and my pedi advised waiting it out. That said it doesn’t look great. You can find many things online about how to treat at home and some derms will treat but it can be painful for kids. Many people (not all) have some success with zymaderm or similar topical (I used a cheaper one) from amazon or the like. My son’s has lasted two years plus (longer than average) but I only did the treatment when it was on his arm/elbow (also probably started with eczema) - I got rid of that but it moved to his trunk and then I stopped caring since it didn’t show and the treatment was going to get on his clothes/pjs.

Sorry got long winded! If you’re not sure that’s what it is get it checked out of course.

@gotkimchi: @bhbee: looking at pictures on the internet it does look like molloscum contagiosum. So I guess I do need to bring them in to the doctor? They definitely share towels and stuff so makes sense they passed it to each other.

It's hard to tell without seeing them. It could he anything. HFM or a allergic rash. I'd call your doctor and get them to look.

Can you post a pic?

Parts of your description sound like molluscum ... starting back of knees where you had eczema, and it spreading between them and on them. But the actual bump description sounds different so maybe not. Just thought I’d throw it out there.

Has anyone seen anything like this? Last week I noticed some small raised bumps on my 3 year old’s legs, the backs and inside of her knees. She often get red splotches there from eczema anyway, but these were almost more like poison ivy dots, raised, shiny, like a blister. Then I noticed my five year old has the same types of blisters on her inner thighs. She indicated that they itch. When I applied cortisone both seems a little better, but I forgot for a couple days and it’s a bit worse. Now the 3 year old has them on her thighs too.

I don’t really know what to think. They don’t seem to bother my little one. I thought for my older one maybe it was because she’s been insisting on wearing too small tights, so they could have irritated her skin rubbing her thighs. But weird for it to be both. I have started occasionally using scented laundry detergent (vs the free and clear I usually use).

Thoughts? Ideas of what it could be?
