@swedishfish: oh no :( try to stay hydrated. I know it's meant for kids but could you drink some pedialyte (or the adult equivalent)? Hang in there!

You poor thing--I remember being stomach sick when nursing and it was tough to even keep my supply up because I didn't feel like eating/drinking and was losing so much fluid. Hope you can take it as easy as possible today.

@Corduroy: @cmomma17: thanks...I'm not feeling great again so maybe it wasn't food poisoning. Ugh, I feel horrible but DH had to call in sick today.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I had food poisonIng a month ago. I BF through it but it is incredibly draining. Please take care of yourself and hydrate when you can. If you have anyone in addition to DH that you can call for backup you might want to give them a heads up now. My DH got sick hours after me and we were both useless for a while. Feel better!!

Kelly mom:

If mom has food poisoning, breastfeeding should continue. As long as the symptoms are confined to the gastrointestinal tract (vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps), breastfeeding should continue without interruption as there is no risk to the baby. This is the case with most occurences of food poisoning. If the food poisoning progresses to septicemia, meaning the bacteria has passed into mom’s bloodstream (mom would most likely be hospitalized), see this guidance from Dr. Ruth Lawrence:

http://kellymom.com/bf/can-i-breastfeed/illness-surgery/mom-illness/

It sounds like food poisoning to me. That's exactly how I would describe it when I had it once. Especially now that you're feeling much better after you've puked and gotten rid of it. Your husband could have just had a stronger stomach when it came to the chicken.

As far as breastfeeding I'm not sure. I would think it would be okay since you didn't have a bug or anything.

My abdomen began hurting yesterday afternoon...the only way to describe it is as if I didn't drink enough water during the day. Those are the only times it's hurt so badly before.

It went away and then came back during dinner. I threw up several times and then my back went out. DH had to come home early from work because I was so sick I couldn't move.

I thought it was from the chicken we ate for lunch but DH is fine. Do you think it's safe to breast feed LO this morning? Or should I pump and dump? I'm feeling much better.
