i just always used a winter jacket since their legs were kept warm by the bundleme (we had a 7am enfant one that was super warm). less bulky!

I've been looking for a snowsuit for her but have yet UO find one I like for a price I want to buy. In an effort to save money I think I will only buy that unless I find a fleece bundleme under $10.

I got the Gap snowsuit that @Crumbs posted for my LO. I had originally bought him a puffy jacket but hadn't seen any separate snow pants and I thought a full body snowsuit would be easier. Plus, the Gap one comes with mitts and boots too!

We live in the north and I covered all bases just in case. For winter walks I got a bundler with a sheepskin inlay. I use it now even though it's not that cold (with light clothing under) and she's so cozy, she falls asleep in it.

I also have a quilted and padded Harley Davidson sack with hood that fits onto a carseat and stroller - got it for $8 at Ross! We were gifted a bodysuit like the one @HeatherlovesKenny posted. I also got a snowsuit for when it's super cold.

I bought the bundler late and honestly, it's really all I need. There are times when I'll probably use the thin sherpa pram underneath it for when it's really cold, but I doubt I'll be out that long when it is. The snowsuit will get used for when we let LO play in the snow but it's not like we'll let her do that often. I doubt the Harley outfit will ever get used, but at least it was cheap.

Here are the links to the stuff we got her:
Kaiser Cuddly Bag Little Sheepy

We have the exact same NorthFace suit as @HeatherlovesKenny. We also have a very similar suit from LL Bean, and one from Carters. I like the LL Bean and the NorthFace ones best.

She also has a regular coat, but that NorthFace suit is really easy to put on so I plan to use that most often this winter.

@phdmommy: That would be good and safe! We are using a double layer fleece suit like that for Sawyer, and I can still get the car seat straps quite snug. I plan on just layering a blanket over top if we are walking around outside.

We do have a heated attached garage and a car starter, so really he won't be in the car when it is cold in there.

Yeah, pre crawling I'd say a bodysuit for sure. I used mine every winter day last year. I did a lot of walking outside and such, so I needed it. If you were ONLY ever going from house to car to store or whatever, then I could see a seat bundler being ok.

I live in Chicago and bought a version of this (someone on HB recommended):

http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=8788&vid=1&pid=150218012

It's thin enough to be able to wear in the car seat but also warm. I don't plan on bringing my son outside that much in the stroller once it gets really cold so I didn't see the point of getting anything much warmer.

I would go with a bodysuit. I just started putting DD in this:
it has covers for her hands and feet and has a hood but its bulky. I'll probably buy one in the next size too.

@C.Sassy: I didn't know about no down coats/snowsuits in the stroller...good to know!

@Mrs. Stroller: I like the idea of the body suit for now too, for when we go on walks and things. And that's a good thought about making the straps fit tightly and secure in the car seat. I've only used the bundleme once, but i like how we can unzip it once we're in the car so it's not so warm.

I preferred the whole body suit before he was crawling. If you're planning to go to the park and to let her crawl around you may want separate pieces so that you can wash the bottoms more frequently.

For walks and just getting in and out of the car, I only dress him in his warm clothes, wrap him in a blanket and then transfer him to the car seat without a coat so that the straps tighten properly. On walks I have a JJCole bundleme toddler (fits strollers) and zip him up all cozy in that with a hat on. No coat needed.

I don't have much advice since I'm trying to figure out the same thing, but just wanted to remind you that it's not recommended to use down/snow suits in a carseat. Just something to think about as you're shopping around.

We are gearing up for the cold up here in the midwest and I have no idea what kind of outerwear to get for our little girl. She's almost 6 months now and so far we've gotten by with a Columbia fleece jacket. But now that the temperatures are dropping, I'm not sure whether to go the snow suit route or just get a down coat. We just got a Bundleme for her car seat/stroller, so I'm not sure if a full body suit is necessary. Advice/opinions?
