@little k @bao You know it's funny you say that I should dress him the same as me because I'm super-duper cold all the time due to pregnancy hormones! I was freezing in like 60 degrees the other day. So I am afraid I'll overheat him.

Thanks for all the tips. I feel better things now and I think I'll go to REI and check out hats @Mrs. Bee

I figure I'll just buy boots if it turns out to be really snowy!!

I would do an undershirt, regular long sleeve shirt, pants, a coat, a hat, mittens as long as LO will keep them on and regular shoes should be fine. If he will be in a stroller add a blanket. I wouldn't go SUPER crazy with tons and tons of layers because although its winter you don't want him to sweat and get cranky. He is probably just as warm or cold as you are :)

I've read that you should dress the baby similar to you plus 1 extra layer like a blanket.

i would get a warm trapper hat like this:

http://www.rei.com/product/837782/rei-wool-plaid-trapper-hat-toddler-boys,-red-buffalo-plaid

A scarf really helps, but hard for toddlers to keep on. Charlie only recently started wearing one. We have this snood from Zara that's easier to keep on: http://www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/us/en/zara-us-W2012/269273/826231/KNITTED%20NECKWARMER

Regular shoes are fine I think unless there's snow. Then snow boots would be great.

Other than that, just layer -- a long sleeve shirt, sweater, coat should be fine. You can put tights or pjs on under pants. If it's 32 degrees, you probably won't spend too much time outside? That's pretty cold.

@caffeinated I looked at the forecast (we are leaving next Thursday) and it looks like the highs are around freezing. That's flippin cold to me :)

The mimiTENS are SO cute! I think he needs some...

@glimmersnaps: I would get hat, mittens and some sort of warm boot or shoe with thick socks. and a warm coat. I'm in southern ontario and for our wak tonight I took DD out in a carters fuzzy sleeper coat thingy and it was more than enough.

Isnt the east going through a warm spell right now? I put miniTENS on my LO and they keep her hands warm. I would probably get boots...Not just for warmth but to protect from gross, wet slush.

We are going on a weeklong trip to Ottawa and Montreal next Thursday and I'm unsure about the clothes I have for DS.

I know he will wear layers (how many?) and then he has a snow bib and decent coat. I'm really unsure about the accessories though. He has one pair of shoes (regular Stride Rite tennis shoes) and no boots. And his hat isn't great-- it's fleece with ear flaps but it's smallish. Where is a good place to buy a seriously warm winter hat? And mittens? Do toddlers even wear mittens?

Any advice on how to bundle him up is greatly appreciated! (Where I grew up I barely needed a coat, so I'm at a loss...)
