@gotkimchi: He took an hour and 45 minute nap today, waking up at 2. Am hoping he can make it to his 8:00 bedtime. This is nerve-wracking!

I would try for one and see how it goes. If it doesn't work you can always go back to two.

When DS first went down to one nap at daycare he would still have two naps at home. This went on for close to two months before he was strictly on one nap.

I'm also in the same boat, at 13 months. I'm trying to hold onto two naps until 15 months but I don't know if we can. He falls asleep easily for his morning nap but the afternoon one is getting harder and harder, and when he does nap, he wakes up later and so goes to bed later. I'm trying to figure out if it's better to keep having him go to bed later and keep he two naps, or go down to one nap and have an earlier bedtime.....
Since your LO is 16 months, I'd definitely try for one nap. I think that's on the later end for dropping the second nap anyway.....

I would try dropping the second nap. Give it at least a week, but you can always switch back if it doesn't work.

I would see how she does with one nap, you can always go back to two if it doesn't work for her!

@gotkimchi: for a while after we dropped to one nap, it was consistently like 3 hours! It was great. But now it's usually only 1.5 and that's much sadder for me. Oh well.

@Foodnerd81: it is late but she's always dropped naps late and before this it was sooo clear she needed a nap. She would be cranky and tired but now I don't know what I'm doing! I can't tell if she's tired at all because she seems so happy

@delight: ok seems like that might be what we need to do!

@raintreebee: what's going on either you guys? Are you going to try one nap?

We started one nap at 16 months because that's what our dsycare wanted to do. It worked out great for us. Our DD has always needed a lot of sleep so at first I was worried she wouldn't be getting enough sleep, but she has a long nap. When we were on two naps she would sleep 10:30-12:30 and 3:30-4:30. Now that she is on one nap, she goes down after lunch and sleeps 2.5-3 hours. I love having just the one nap now.

I think 16 months is pretty late to be on two naps still (though believe me, I would have kept the second nap if I could have!). If she's having a hard time falling asleep for naps and bedtime is late, it's probably worth trying.

Fwiw we went to one nap because she wouldn't fall asleep for the second one. So she would take a nice long nap in the morning but be up from 11 am until bedtime which was just not cool. She naps at 1:30 now but will still fall asleep in the car in the morning if we are on a long trip- but then won't nap later in the day.

Lo is 16 months and has been going to bed at 7. Lately though she's been taking forever to fall asleep and has even been up past 8. She's been happy and just doesn't seem tired. She has been fighting naps in her crib but will sleep in stroller or car. I'm wondering if it's time to go to 1 nap? She's still be getting up at her normal time so I feel like she's just getting less sleep overall!!
