I also have no problem drinking in front of my ILs, because all 3 of their sons drink and it doesn't phase them. Its not a big deal at all. My mom likes someone to have a "happy hour" with her when we come over- but she's in bed at 8 so it ends with her happy hour. My sisters and I have had weddings we drank too much at but our parents don't judge just make sure we're ok and someone is watching us- like I make sure my sister gets to bed or something. There's a history of alcoholism on both my mom's and my dad's side of the family. My parents wanted us to develop healthy habits with alcohol, so they allowed us to try and drink alcohol with them when we were teenagers. The logic was that we would know how it affected us, learn our limits, have it not be taboo, and feel comfortable with it. So I was drinking in front of my parents... was surprised how weird it felt, because I don't do it often! There's a history of alcohol abuse in my mom's family, so I try to respect that.
