My husband and I got Androids (HTC droid) about 3 years ago. Going from a reg phone to a smart phone was great over time we started having more and more problems everytime they released new software updates.

In October we both got new phones I got the iphone 4s and hubs got another android samsung i think but its powered by bing not google.

It took a few weeks for me to get everything set up on the phone the way i wanted it the hardest was going from google calendar to ical. but i have access to everything my android had. I love it! even my 2010 Kia Soul loves it as it syncs right up and i can hands free use siri. as for battery i charge it every night but its usually only 1/2 way when i plug it in.

hubs phone has had to be replaced twice. His battery is always dead, and it randomly turns itself off. Most phone calls i can't understand a word he's saying. He won't admit it (because he's so anti Mac) but he prefers to use my phone over his own esp for using apps and looking stuff up. Def go with a "google" phone over a "bing" phone

@ladyfingers: if you think you will want to get an iphone someday, I'd say get an iphone. Actually, my suggestion is to wait until the phone you want comes out.

If you have apps on Android or Apple, you can't transfer them between the two. So, anything you pay for with one company, you would have to pay for again on your new one. If you go with Android (I use them as example because it's what I know) you set up an account and that account follows you from Android phone to Android phone. So anything you paid for, you don't have to pay for again.

I have never owned an Apple product. I'm an Android user and love it so much. I have the Samsung Galaxy S2. Best phone ever.

I have an ancient non-smart phone and am thinking about getting an iPhone to take photos of the soon-to-arrive baby and being able to email/upload them easily. My husband, who is a Mac devotee, says to wait until the new one because rumor says it will be a bigger screen and a sharper camera, and he already thinks the camera is pretty good on his, which is a 3S, I think.

I have an iPhone that I love, but i hate iTunes. I'd try out an Android, but I would wait until they had a much much biggger app store. Also, bad about iPhone is that it doesn't use Flash, so there's a few fancy websites that won't open.

i have a droid samsung galaxy and i love it. my husband has an iphone and after using the droid, using the iphone is really tough. the screen is much smaller and it is hard to type and navigate through websites. the samsung galaxy is a lot bigger, but if you don't carry your phone in your pocket, then its really not a big deal. i just like having the big screen. i am kind of anti-Apple too.

I have an Android (LG Vortex). Recently I've been considering getting an iPhone because my battery life sucks, but then I've heard that the iPhone battery isn't much better. If I use my phone even moderately, it needs to be charged in a bout 16 hours. I also am thinking about the switch because there doesn't seem to be much storage on the phone for apps. I don't use many, but occasionally I've had to delete apps to add new ones, which is annoying. The camera issue is the other thing. My phone doesn't have a flash and the picture quality isn't all that great (the pictures are dark and if I zoom in at all, they get grainy).

But I'm kind of anti-Apple (though I do have an iPod) and I'm always kind of anti-mainstream. I don't like to buy things just because everyone else has them. So, I don't know. I'm torn.

What about a Windows phone? Just kidding, sort of. I have a Windows phone, but I don't know anyone else who does. I don't use a lot of apps, so it doesn't really bother me that there are far fewer apps for Windows than Apple or Droid. I use my phone for texting, email, internet, FB, maps/traffic, app games, and obviously phone calls. Oddly, my traffic is usually more accurate than DH's iPhone. There is a radio app on my phone, but I rarely use it. I listen to the regular radio in the car, and I have an iPod. My camera isn't fantastic, but it doesn't bother me.

DH has an iPhone. He has a lot of apps, although I'm not sure how many he uses regularly. He sometimes listens to music on his iPhone in the car. He installed some wiring that connects directly to his sound system, but before that he used a device that plugged in to the cigarette lighter and used a radio signal. His camera is pretty good.

My dad has a Droid. I don't know a lot about it. He has a radio app, I think it's Pandora. He has an adaptor that goes into his tape deck (his car is old enough that it has a tape deck) so he can listen in the car.

There are definitely options to connect an iPhone or Droid so that you can listen in the car, depending on your car (not sure if that was part of your question on listening to Droid in the car). Aside from music, I think it depends on how important apps are for you. You should be able to go into the store and play with different phones to see which Droid you like the best.

I've had both. I loved my droid and I love my iPhone, so I'm not much help. I got the iPhone after having the Droid for two years to try something new. I bought the iPhone 4 right after the 4S came out so I was able to get it much cheaper. I don't care too much about being with the times since there is always something new!

@Thehistoryofus: I know... and so many things have happened to it. Twice it almost caused a fire-- the charging cord just burnt a hole right through the rubber casing of the wire. They always gave us a new cord for free but it really scared me that the computer was somehow burning these cords. Also, my battery died after a year or so, and they ended up giving us a free battery, and that totally blew up the computer and I had to reformat everything. It's just been nightmare after nightmare that I never experienced with PCs, so we eventually bit the bullet and bought a (much cheaper) thinkpad that we've never had any problems with and has lasted much longer. Wagon Sr. and I are both pretty tech savvy and we hated having to pay the Apple "geniuses" to fix our computer and then give no explanation as to what happened!! So it's PCs for us from now on. :) I miss the sexiness of the Macbook though. Luckily I use a Macbook Pro at the office so at least I get my fix here!
