Those otter boxes are pretty good protection too. If you're fine now I would think you're fine for a while.

I dropped mine in the bathtub with just a decorative case on it, and I grabbed it immediately. It was fine! Nothing wrong with it at all :)

Mine went through the washer (don't ask) in a Lifeproof case, and the seal leaked a little bit (likely wasn't on all the way). I left it in rice, and the water spot went away on the screen within a few days. It functions perfectly fine now several months later.

if it was working it'll probably be ok!

rice isn't always a cure-all..DH lost a couple phones that rice did not help with.

There is a chance...but it would be a better chance if you had turned it off right away like @pui: said. I hope it's okay!

Ugh, that stinks!! My mom dropped her phone outside and it stayed outside overnight in a puddle in the rain. After putting it in rice, it still worked for a long time. I hope yours turns out okay!

The phone actually has a good chance of being completely fine. You should have turned it off immediately though... If it ever happens again lol.

DH dropped his in the toilet and it survived! Believe in the iPhone! =) I think he tore it apart shortly afterwards and dried the components... not sure what he did. He dropped it in the toilet shortly after he purchased it and this was a little under two years ago.

I dropped mine in the ocean (and it sank) without a cover, luckily in shallow water so I was able to pick it up. It still worked. I bought rice immediately after and let it sit for 24 hours. It worked fine for 6 more months. I think the fact that it was dropped in water, made the screen more fragile because I set it on the counter and it shattered :( but again, that was 6 months after the ocean incident!

It didn't have any problems charging though and it wasn't slow.

...that my phone will survive?!?!

I had the otterbox on and I *think* the port cover was fully inserted. It was only in for less than half a second and I got it out almost as fast as it was in, and immediately took the cover off and dried it. Then a half hour later (post bedtime so I could track it on my baby app) I turned it off and put it in rice. It seemed to be 100% fine though.

Ugh. Is there a chance that this isn't going to damage something internally and cause a slow and painful phone death?!?! Years ago my DH's stopped charging due to "corrosion from water exposure" so my expectations are low but man it would be great if it ended up ok.
