@ellewoods84: It's definitely a work in progress! No catnap last night so he had his last bottle around 7:30 and passed out. I thought he was down for the night, but nope. Woke up around 9:15 to eat again! But then slept through until 5 am. These babies always keep you on your toes! I just learned to go with the flow. It was harder for me to try to figure them out. It also seemed that a lot of transitions happened naturally so I kinda worried for nothing.

@Mae: yeah, I wish they could be too! It's so hard figuring them out! I was going to try to ditch the 4th nap today and go for an earlier bedtime, but O baby must have known I had other plans and woke up 1.5 hrs earlier than normal, soooo no way I can skip that today!
@BabyTsMom: hey! Yeah I would love it if her bedtime was earlier! I just fear she will wake up super early also....I mean she can only do so much sleep in one day! I hope your LO lengthens his naps soon for you. I am also afraid to move bedtime so dramatically from 9 to 7:00! I would think a slow shift would be better but I don't know how to do that and ditch the last nap. Ugh.
@Mamasig: okay, cool. At least it would make sense if we attempted this!

My 4 month old goes to sleep around 8 if he takes that late catnap. If not, it's closer to 7. Eventually that late catnap will disappear.

I think 7-7:30pm is an appropriate bedtime for a 4.5 month old.... having said that my LO's bedtime is 7:30 and he still has 4 naps because all of his naps SUCK. haha. But if your LO has 3 decent naps and you can still put her down at 7-7:30pm, I think that's great! And like @gilmoregirl said, ever since we started putting him down that early (only for the last couple of weeks or so), we can actually eat dinner together and have some time to relax before going to bed ourselves.... it's been really nice! :)
You may also find that she may sleep a little better/longer overnight!

HMMMM... I'm wondering if maybe this is our issue. Because Fia fights that last nap hard too. And then when we DO get her to sleep we almost always have to wake her and I always get the feeling that she just wants to be in bed at that point. But a lot of days (like today) one of her previous naps gets cut so short that there is just no way we couldn't have a 4th :/ Man I wish babies could be more predictable lol.

@scg00387: okay super, thanks!
@gilmoregirl: awesome. Yeah, some days her bedtime will end up being super early also, but she is fighting that last nap so hard, I think she's over it. She can also be awake maybe 2-2.5 hours prior to bed, but that's only if she's had awesome naps that day.
Thanks for the advice.

That's what we did at 4.5 months, and it's approximately what we do now. He's gone down at 6:30 a few times, depending on when his last nap ends. He can handle a slightly longer awake time at the end of the day, but not usually by too much.

My 4.5 month old has been fighting her 4th nap the past couple days. Her usual awake time is 1 hr 45 min, and it usually takes no time at all to get her down. With the 4th nap, it had been taking upwards of 30 minutes and then of course I wake her so her bedtime isn't super late. Is this a sign that she's ready to ditch it? Also, if we did that we would obviously have to bring up bedtime. She usually goes down around 9ish. If we dropped the last nap bedtime would be moved to like 7-730.....that seems like a dramatic shift to me.
