@birdofafeather: yeah pretty much...he had gotten to the point where he was nursing really quickly for only a few minutes because he wanted to go pick out a book. SO I just stopped offering at night. And then for maybe two weeks, he would ask for milk after I put him in his crib for the night, so I would take him out and nurse him. But then he stopped asking for it. So it was pretty seamless!

@californiadreams: yeah, i was thinking of dropping morning, but might keep that one in favor of making night time easier? but if i'm there at night (which i am 95% of the time) i don't know that getting her to bed without nursing first (i don't nurse to sleep, it's just a part of night time that she absolutely asks for and gets ramped up about) is going to be easy.

@Weagle: your #2 reason is making me think that it would be smart to keep the morning one, but since DH works 24 shifts, i do bedtime alone 2-4 times a week, so i'm nervous about changing routine.

@hilsy85: did he drop the bedtime nurse easily? after all the sleep work, i'm definitely nervous to mess with it.

I kept morning til last, because I nursed him in bed and it got me an extra 20-30 (sometimes more!) minutes of dozing. It was well worth it. We dropped that one earlier this week, but he has randomly asked for milk once during the day when he is upset over something. Today is the first day he didn't ask, so I think we are done...!

I kept the morning one to drop last. 1) I loved the morning snuggles. 2) It was easier to leave her with a sitter at night or be away from her during the day. I couldn't imagine a situation where I wouldn't be there when she woke up (we didn't have any trips planned) but I knew I was much more likely to be away at bedtime.

I'm in the same boat as you and have been thinking about dropping one at 18 months and then let him take the lead on the last one.LO will be 18m next week. I will probably drop the morning one first since it tends to be shorter and primarily due to hunger ( there have even been times when DH was up before me and fed LO a banana and water than he didn't want to BF that morning). The bedtime session helps him settle and he BFs for longer and it seems to be more of a comfort session,so I'd rather keep it longer. My only dilemma is that I work late Wednesday nights so we would then be skipping an entire day once a week and I'm afraid it will lead to earlier weaning.

LO is almost 16 months. We're on 2 nursing sessions: one on wake up and one at bedtime. (and sometimes when she's sick or hysterical at random times during the day or night, but that's infrequent) I have been fine with this for now, but with some overnight trips coming up in the next few months, I'm starting to think of my exit strategy. I always thought I'd let LO lead the way and be open to up to 2 years, but at this point, I'm thinking 18 months might be better.

Anyway, if and when I am the one dropping sessions, which session should I drop first and why? My initial thought was wake up as I can distract her with a sippy cup and keep bedtime intact, but morning can be the session she's most interested in when she STTN.

so which session did you keep for last? why?
