2.5 is a wee bit early but both my girls dropped naps 3 months before 3 for good. Rough transitioning for a few weeks, but their bed time was just getting later and later with naps, even capping the naps.

DS went through a phase of not napping at that age. I was so nervous that he was dropping his nap for good, but after awhile he went back to napping. Though I can't remember how long it lasted - maybe a couple weeks?

It could be a nap regression so if you prefer him to nap until he’s older just push through and he might go back to napping regularly for you.

If you’re able to you might want to give him lots of outdoor active time in the morning to wear him out a bit more.

I’m pretty certain my older two went through something like that around that age. They both napped until 4+.

My LO just turned 2 and has already been doing this for a couple of months. I refuse to accept that she is done so we continue to put her in her crib for 1.5 hours. As long as she is happily playing in there, we plan to keep doing it. She naps a few times a week. When she doesn’t nap, we put her down for bed around 6:30pm but she is perfectly happy and still sleeps great at night. If she does nap, bedtime is 7:15/7:30. I’m hoping the naps just pick back up again? Has that ever happened to anyone?

We are going through the same thing with our 2.5 year old. My oldest napped until 3.5 and still will randomly nap at age 4. Logically I feel like he’s too young to drop his nap but he’s doing the same as yours. Takes forever to fall asleep for nap or doesn’t fall asleep at all. He plays in his crib and then will start calling for me. If he does nap, no matter how short or long the nap is, then he’s up late at night. He napped for two hours yesterday after not napping for five days. We were up until 10:00 trying to get him to sleep last night. So that doesn’t feel right either. I read online that 2.5 is a normal sleep/nap regression age. Who knows. 🤷🏽‍♀️

My almost 4 year old dropped her naps around the same age. I tried forever to get her to nap, but it wasn't happening. She never naps now (not even at day care, where she has to sit on a mat for two hours. She's doing great.

My son is about to be 2.5. The last couple of weeks naps have been few and far between. He just sits in his crib for an hour and talks. Sometimes this leads to more meltdowns at night, sometimes he seems fine. Is this too early to drop it? Should I keep doing that quiet time in bed for a few weeks to see what happens?
