@LBee: If you're worried that you'll get engorged, then just do what you did with your other sessions and reduce the time you pump every day until you eliminate it completely.

@Adira: Ugh.. it's not consistent. Just last week I was down to 5 - the 2 oz was today and yesterday. I'm really sick of getting up to pump for a 10 month old with 1800+ ounces in the freezer.

If you're consistently getting just 2 oz from that morning session, I think you're probably okay to just drop it.

@catomd00: He's 10 months. He is a happy, thriving little buddy - I'm definitely not worried about his milk intake. Just trying to figure out if I should just give up the ghost and drop the morning pump cold turkey (as opposed to decreasing the minutes every morning like I did with my other session).

How old is he? When solid intake increase, milk intake will decrease a bit.

I didn't have a big decline in output when I went from 3 to 2 pumping sessions, but I did when going from 2 to 1, but that what was the point. Also, pumping output isn't a good indication of what baby is getting from the breast - They are much more efficient. As long as baby is happy, gaining and having wet/dirty diapers I wouldn't worry about trying to count oz.

When you started dropping sessions did you ever notice that your pumping output decreased at other sessions (after it leveled off)?

Long story:

I WOH and breastfed + pump. I have 1800+ ounces in the deep freezer and can finally stop pumping at work (2x), my morning pump, as well as drop doing his dinner time feed (which is his most distracted one and the one that drives me the most crazy). That's great, but now I've been having to go through and figure out how to eliminate all of this. I'm finally done pumping at work and wanted to start tackling my dinner time feed. At the same time, I noticed that my morning pump, where I usually get 8 ozs, has dropped to 5 ozs and now 2 ozs. I think he might be eating a little more in the morning, but I can't imagine he's upped his intake by 6 ozs?? Nothing has changed, EXCEPT, it's the week before my period and sometimes I am a little lighter with my pumping.

Any thoughts? Should I just go ahead and drop the morning session? My husband (in all his pumping expertise) said I might as well since my body seems to be indicating it.
