@sandy: she stopped around 20 months, she's almost 2. She will take the occasional nap (couple times a month) but that's even a struggle and it takes her forever to fall asleep.

@Bao: how old is A now? How long has it been since she last napped? My LO is 2 years 9 months today and it's been a week since she last napped. And I think she napped bc she was fighting some illness. Before that I don't think she napped for over a week so I think we're getting close to her dropping her nap. She still does 2 hours of quiet time a day and gets an early bedtime. We'll see if she goes back to napping once school starts. I was hoping she'd keep her nap for another year :-/

@scg00387: Yay so glad he's back to napping! I took a 2 hour nap while DD napped today. I woke up feeling so relaxed and refreshed. They are just too good to give up, hope the babies know that!

Just as an update, after a FULL week of not napping (I left him in the dark for about 45 minutes, then turned on the lights and told him he could read in his crib for another 45) he has gone back to napping, yay! Who knows why. I'm just glad he swapped back

We had a very short period (shorter than or around 4?) that LO dropped his nap, and that was before 1. He got pretty cranky toward the end of day. I remember I also was very worried and made a Hellobee message board post myself! Luckily he resumed his naps afterwards. He is now 2.5 years and still taking 1 nap most of the days. I hope it is just a phase for you!

If he doesn't nap, just let him be in his crib for an hour with some toys or books for a rest time? This way you get a break and he gets an hour of time where he can nap if he wants to or he can play alone quietly.

Eek, I would die! I'm sorry. They have to nap at daycare until 3, and I think even at 4 they require a period of rest. If at least not napping, I would def leave in crib/bed for quiet time...even for your own sanity.

@scg00387: well, because our toddlers have similar sleep needs, guess who also skipped her nap today? Haha. 13 hours overnight and total is pretty great! Is that how much he gets normally? My LO usually gets around that much total too.

Oh no! Don't keep him up. Well 7 is not super early, but if day try 11:30 or 12 as a last ditch effort. Maybe? :)

@Mrs Green Grass: without a nap, he sleeps about 7-8. With a nap, he sleeps about 8-7 (usually 1.5 hour nap). I don't know if it becomes a cycle where he got so much over night sleep, he's not tired for nap but.. when he doesn't take one, he's tired by the time 7 rolls around so I'd feel mean trying to keep him up!

@Mrs Green Grass: mmm I haven't; he pushed it back to 1 pm around 13m (dropped to one nap around 11 months) and it's been about that time ever since and only earlier if he wakes up abnormally early. So it seems unlikely but I could try it!

Have you tried earlier nap instead of later? My nephew went through a tough phase at 24 months while switching to a toddler bed and actually did better napping at 9 am. Once everything calmed down, he went back to normal. My 18mo seems to hit a point where we miss the nap window. 11:30 to 1 start time usually works, but the earlier it is, the easier he falls asleep.

Please tell me I'm not alone. Hoping it is just a strike but today is day 4. Moving it past 1 pm doesn't help, stroller or car doesn't help. He sits in his crib happily for an hour at which point I give him books for another half an hour to hour. He's 20m.

He is going to bed earlier without a nap, obviously, and generally handles it very well. I am just feeling a little robbed! My mom says I dropped mine at 19m but most of the similarly aged kids we know still sleep really well :(
