@ChiCalGoBee: our older did the transition to one nap right at a year. It's just been easier for us to push our younger to this routine early.

@Mrs. Champagne: 30 minute naps-we went through a phase like that and it was so stressful! Bless your heart!
@KayKay: 2-3.5 hours is what I wanted to hear! Fingers crossed, and good luck as you transition, too!
@Foodnerd81: Yes, this is what we're running into. I'm having to wake him from morning nap to make sure he'll have time for an afternoon one.
@MrsSRS: THIS. This is the dream! Fingers crossed my son follows suit!
@regberadaisy: Interesting. Thanks. Maybe he'll do better than I think with one 1.5 hour nap? That's how it was today (he skipped afternoon nap) and he was fussy all afternoon, so I'm inclined to think he needs a little more sleep. Who knows?!
@MamaG: Glad to hear your transition went well! Makes me a little less nervous. I thought he was on the young side for the one-nap transition but he's the boss!
@rattles: Thanks for sharing that it took a few weeks to settle into the new routine. I think it's easy to forget about the transition when it's been the same schedule for a few months now!
@NurseDMB: 3 hours is SO amazing. I would love/think he would do best with anything north of two hours, but we'll see! Sorry they've gotten shorter:-/.
@HLK208: Yep, earlier bedtime might be in the cards....although I'm so afraid of screwing with nighttime routine and timing since that's been going well for so long!
@Grace: Awesome-thanks for sharing that it took 6 weeks for the routine to get settled. These things take time!
@sleepybear: Earlier bedtime sounds like it will need to happen if the nap doesn't get longer. Thanks for sharing!

We transitioned to 1 nap a couple months ago. Usually naps have only been about an hour, but DS is starting to have more and more longer naps (closer to 2 hours). I'd normally try to put him down a little earlier for bed if he didn't nap well.

LO's naps were just like your LO's. I had to drop the second nap at 13 months when LO went to daycare. At first the naps were short - around 90 min, but within 6 weeks they lengthened to 2 or 2.5 hours.

When they dropped the second nap, the one nap was always about 60-90 minutes! We just make bed time earlier. My 15 month old goes to sleep at 6:30 every night.

My son dropped to one nap at 11 months old, and I remember it being on the shorter side, then it gradually started to lengthen.

For awhile he normally would take one 3 hour nap. Which was glorious.

Now he's 2 and lately his nap has only been 1 hour-1 hour and a half. Boo.

When my first dropped her morning nap, her afternoon nap stayed exactly the same length (90 minutes) as it had been with two. I kept hoping it would lengthen since most people said theirs did, but it stayed 90 minutes until 2 and then went to 60 minutes at 2.5.

ETA: Oh, and she was a fussy mess for a couple of weeks while I worked out the kinks in the timing and adjusted, but it all settled out, obviously.

We are almost a year old too, but LO has been on one nap for some time already. At daycare the nap is typically 2-2.5 hours. At home it can go as long as 3 hours. She will often wake sometime in there at home but go back down quickly on her own.

It took a few weeks for things to really settle into a pattern but yes, her one nap was usually longer than either of the two she used to take, though shorter than both combined. She used to take a good long morning nap, and a shorter afternoon nap that she started skipping altogether (hence moving to one nap). As I moved the morning nap later she started sleeping longer.

DD2 is in the middle of her transition too. The days where she only takes one nap, the afternoon one has typically been longer than her normal 2 hours (anywhere from 2-3.5). If it is only 1.5-2hr, I just put her to bed earlier that night.

My son was a chronic 30 minute napper. At first some of his naps when we switched to one were still just 30 minutes. 😱😬

They got longer eventually. I did have to let him CIO at the 30 minute mark because obviously that isn't long enough! He still isn't the best napper, but now instead of two 30 min naps a day he has one that's 1.5-2 hours typically. Today was 2.5 hours. He is 19 months and has been on one nap since he turned 1.

My son turns one in 11 days, and I've probably been in denial for the last month that he is on the way to transitioning from two naps to one :meh: . Although I AM excited at the thought of having flexibility to go out during the morning, I worry one nap won't be enough sleep. The longer of the two naps he currently takes is typically no more than 90 minutes, and the other is about an hour. When your LO transitioned to one nap, did it automatically get longer than the AM/PM naps? Was that part of the nap transition? I cannot imagine him functioning well if his sole nap is 90 minutes, so I am scared of going to one nap in the fear that it won't be enough sleep for him! Thanks in advance for sharing!
