I wanted to come back to thank you all. I did get some bath and shower oil (aveeno oatmeal) and it has made a world of difference!

My hubs has always had super dry skin and has gone through a number of routines in the 7 years we've been together. Recently his last routine stopped working and he was in such agony! He switched to aveeno lotions and it has been loads better! I think making sure there are no parabens may have made the difference? It's so hard and frustrating! Hope you find something that works soon!

@Snowdrop: I don't even use conditioner! (well, I use it to shave my legs currently since I bought it on accident when we went to buy shampoo).

I pretty much use shampoo, soap, and facewash

@MaryM: we are too, I literally use 5 products including shampoo and conditioner (actually think my skin is better for it and I do get a lot of compliments on it) but DH's eczema after his Dad died got so bad something just had to be done so we experimented. At one point his whole back was an open sore, it was horrible to watch him suffer.

@Snowdrop: Thanks for the suggestion! I've never heard of bath or shower oil (is that weird? I'm super low maintenance when it comes to products!)

I went to drugstore.com to see what they had, and there's a 20% skincare sale. Sweet!

@MaryM: oh no, and it still isn't working? You could try bath oil for eczema and use that to wash with in the shower. DH had success with that too but I stopped it after his skin settled down because he never bothered rinsing the shower after! I don't know what brands you have but we used this one:

Second what @Mrs. Twine: says about body wash. My DH has terrible eczema (currently well controlled) and his routine is to lather himself up with cheap aqueous cream before getting into the shower, wash armpits/groin with very mild wash and then slather on a very good quality emollient afterwards.

mr. bird had really awful itchy skin even when using every cream we could find and they were getting the moisture there, but the itch didn't go away. the dr recommended sarna lotion and he found it to be very effective for him.

@MaryM: I might skip the bodywash if your skin is really dry. I only soap up my armpits and groin (sorry for the tmi, and hope your dreams are safe...) when I shower, and use a mild babywash I use on the girls.

@macintosh: Coconut oil is a godsend for the body. The face? Not so much. I am not very prone to breakouts, but I will get pimples from coconut oil on my face. Not anywhere else, though; so I use it all the time on the rest of my body and no longer buy any other body moisturizer or wash or anything. You can sure experiment with it, though! I didn't do much research, so there might be a way to use it on the face without causing breakouts. We just already had the Booda Butter as an intense moisturizer for Lorelei's dry skin, and I discovered that works really well for me. It's only my face, so I don't need a lot, which makes it still pretty cost-effective.

@Mamaof2: I had a pedicure last weekend thinking it might help the itchiness. They did an exfoliating scrub, and I'm afraid it might be worse!

@Tanjowen: Baths kind of gross me out. But maybe I'll look for an oatmeal body wash

@Mrs. Twine: I'll check our product ingredients. Good point!

I use an oil in the shower, I basically just wash up then put the oil on my wet skin. Then I blot with a towl and go on my merry way.

Lotion can often have alcohol in it. Even the "good" kinds. I find that any sort of lotion aggravates my dry skin. I usually wash with water only, and use a washcloth to really rub my skin. Sometimes I make a scrub out of dead sea salt and coconut oil and use that on my face. You can use ground oatmeal as well, which is really soothing and moisturizing. I use Booda Butter as a moisturizer and find it really helps seal in moisture. I try to put it on right after a shower to lock the moisture into my skin.

In the winters I take a warm bath at night with a packet of Aveeno oatmeal bath. It's supposed to be designed for skin itches and rashes. It moisturizes my skin and the bath helps me sleep better too :)

Have you exfoliated recently? That should help! if you don't have any on hand mix some sugar and olive oil and use that! Feels so good and your skin will feel amazing!

Has anyone found remedies for super itchy winter skin? I put on lotion four times yesterday (and nice nivea lotion, not anything cheap) and I was still super itchy.

Any ideas? I've been trying not to take super hot showers and I drink a lot of water. I don't have any rash or visible signs of anything, but I'm so itchy!
