We went through a bad stage around 15 months and I posted on here about it. We kept her rear facing, although we did buy her a new seat and things have improved since. She's 19 months now. The main thing that helps if she's getting upset is talking to her constantly...asking her questions and telling her where we're going and what we're doing etc.

@hilsy85: He is RF in a side seat but still grumpy (not as bad as when he was in the middle seat). We'll keep him this way until 2. Glad that there is a possible end in sight.

Yes it did...but I still didn't switch til 2, and I would do the same. Can you not RF him in a side seat?

Ugh. We play Pandora toddler radio and have to skip the slow songs. It's not fullproof though. My hope on FF was that changing him from the middle seat to a side seat helped because he could look out the window and watch something else.

Unfortunately not, my DD is 22 months and still RF but she has FF in a friends car a few times and still hated it. I second music, I bought a few kid songs CDs and it seems to calm her down a lot!

I think it's just a stage. The only thing that helped us get through it was playing her favorite music channel on YouTube to calm her down. She's 18 months old and it's much, MUCH better. We plan to rearface until two.

DS is 15 months and unless he is sleeping during the drive absolutely hates being in the carseat. He will scream and become hysterical quickly. I've used lots of distraction (toys, food, singing, etc) and it helps some but he still hates it.

For those with kids who hated their carseat, did turning to FFing help? We will try to keep him RFing until 2 (per recommendations) but I'm wondering if there is an end in sight of his car screaming.
