Thanks for the feedback, glad to know it's pretty normal!

He doesn't seem to be hurting himself, so I'l let him be.

My LO will sometimes hit herself on the head, and our pediatrician thought it had to do with pain from teething.

Apparently babies at that age are starting to understand and explore both rhythm and their bodies, so its really common for them to hit themselves, bang their heads, pound their fists, etc... its a totally normal developmental milestone, and exactly what he should be doing at 5 months. :)

My LO does this too when she's nursing. She just whacks herself in the head or stomach over and over. I'm going to ask the ped about it, but I don't think it's a big deal.

My LO does the same thing but usually he has a toy in his hand. I think he's crazy but he'll sit there just swinging his arm around with a toy in it. Maybe he'll be a pitcher?? ;)

DS is 5 months old and the past few days he's been flailing and thrusting his fisted arms down and hitting himself in the stomach. Not hard enough to bruise, but hard enough that I can hear the impact from several feet away.

He doesn't seem bothered by it, but I sort of am. Is this a normal phase or something I should be concerned about?
