Well I had an appointment and the doctor predicted I won’t make it to 40 weeks. I’m already 2cm. Not that it means much since I walked around about the same with my DS for a few weeks. The waiting game continues....

The only time my due date was changed was with my 3rd. They pushed it back by a week based on the 8 week ultrasound. I had been charting and knew the LMP was correct, but I didn’t think it would matter. It did, in the end, because I was in prodromal labor for a week, and they wouldn’t augment it at all because I wasn’t 39 weeks. I was “38+5” (39+5 according to the original, LMP due date) when he was born - the exact same as when his big sis came.

@magnolia: I know what you mean. It worried me for the exact same reason. I didn't want to be induced just because they'd decided to change my due date. Maybe bring up the possible LMP due date in a couple weeks and ask if it can be considered if/when the dr. wants to talk about induction.

@poppygirl15: this is what I’m worried about especially because I’ve had chronic hypertension and there was talking of inducing me if I go “late”
My son was also 3 days “late”...

@peachykeen: yup exactly! They changed it to earlier because it was more than 7 days different. My cycle before I conceived was weird and long so maybe I ovulated really early??
No choice but to wait and see haha. Patience has never been my strength

Evidence-based Birth website says dating by first trimester ultrasound is most accurate.

So ultrasound is the most accurate dating method when done between 8-14 weeks. However, they only usually change your due date when the dates are off by a week or more. So your true "due date" should be the US estimate, but that doesn't mean a whole lot when it comes to giving birth, as I'm sure you know  Hang in there, mama!

Personally, my dr changed my due date based on my U/S and I was *pretty* sure he was wrong and my LMP due date was correct. Sure enough, I gave birth four days "late" -- on my exact LMP due date. Good luck, mama! The waiting game at the end is always the hardest.

So my friend’s due date kept changing by several weeks because of an irregular period and they ended up going with her ultrasound measurement. Her baby was also measuring small with each appointment and she was instructed to keep eating more and more. But she also ended up with a 5lb 36 weeker who needed zero time in the NICU (her water broke). So in the end she may have actually been closer to her original LMP due date but just had a tiny baby because she and her husband are actually both very small people (she’s 4’11 and he’s 5’5 or so).

I had my due date revised but I knew within a 3 day window of when I ovulated because of test strips and the fact that I was traveling for two weeks prior to conceiving (I conceived between days 22-25 of my cycle). They went with the ultrasound measurement and I went into labor at 40 weeks and three days.

@Pollywog: @Sams Mom: @muffinsmuffins: thank you mamas.

They should just call it a guess date... the real question is, will she be a Taurus or a Gemini

@bhbee: the measurements have been consistently ahead. My son was three days “late” so I guess I’m just going to expect it will probably be somewhere in between the two dates.

If you ovulate anytime later than CD14, your due date based on LMP will always contradict your U/S measured due date. A lot of women that chart will actually tell their doctors ovulation - 14 days as their LMP just to get an accurate date.

My son was a scheduled 39 week c section so I'm not sure when he would have gone on his own.

We did 2 rounds of IVF for our boys so we know every minute detail of when they became embryos, etc. Both were always dated by LMP but were wildly different birth dates: 5 weeks early for DS1 and 4 days late for DS2! They never adjusted based on US even when measuring behind or ahead.

Hmm, I would expect the later date to be more likely. Do you know if baby is still measuring ahead?

My first was born right at 40w if you used my (known) ovulation date. They moved my date later after ultrasound, I have longer cycles. My second was born on his LMP due date even though that was a little early due to long cycles. Third was induced at 39.5 so didn’t find out. I guess they were pretty prompt! :silly:

Hang in there the last month is so hard!!

My due date based on my last period is about a week later than my ultrasound measurements at 12 weeks. So my doctor changed my due date to earlier based on the ultrasound

Just wondering if anyone can share when they actually ended going into labor? Closer to the LMP date or the ultrasound based date? I’m 35 weeks. I know baby will come when she is ready but the week difference is getting to me mentally...
