Noooo! Do not dump it! I pumped daily even as a SAHM and used it every day when LO started solids, it bumps up the nutrition of infant cereal and I also used when I made my own purees. You could also put it in a sippy cup so it tastes familiar. If you keep pumping I also used it when transitioning to whole milk. My LO hardly ever took a bottle but I definitely got good use out of my pumped milk!

What about mixing it in oatmeal or other baby food? Or giving it in a sippy cup?

My LO won't take a bottle either, but I find when I open up breastmilk from like even early October, it sometimes smells.... off. I'd read that 3 months in a normal freezer, especially if it's stored close to the front, or opened and closed often, is the outer limit, rather than six months but obviously others have heard differently. But I've been using the newer stuff to mix with her cereals/purees now that she's started solids.

If you plan to donate you may want to contact the milk bank on their guidelines. The bank I had contacted said they would take milk stored in my regular freezer up to 6 months.

Shelf life in a regular freezer is considered to be 3-6 months...there's a range for storage guidelines because of differences in freezer temperature and cleanliness (like washing hands before handling flanges for example).

I think the shelf life of milk in a regular freezer (not deep freezer) is 4 months. Anything older than that would be hard to donate (especially to newborns or a milk bank).

Consider donating! Either through a milk bank which benefits mostly sick/preemie newborns (formal process) or directly to a mom/baby in need via Human Milk For Human Babies (informal, I know it's Facebook-based in my area).

You could use some of it to mix with baby food? I did some homemade purées, and I used older BM to thin them out. I've got no other ideas beyond that.

When DS2 was first born, I pumped because I wanted to have a stash ready for when others wanted or had to feed him. (with my first, I never had enough!)

But DS2 never took to a bottle and we have since stopped trying to get him to take one. I am a SAHM so i can afford to nurse exclusively.

I have a large stash of frozen breastmilk sitting in the freezer. (not a deep freezer). It dates back to the beginning August and goes through early December.

So the question is: should I dump the earlier milk, specifically from Aug-Sept? I don't plan on trying to get him to take a bottle anytime soon...he is almost 6 months and i figure we will start sippy training him soon. Even then, it probably will take him some time to get the hang of it. So dump the old frozen (but precious!) milk?
