Honestly, we could replace both the honeywell unit and the filters several times over for what some of the fancier humidifiers cost. Some of them are really expensive (and I feel like I would still have to clean or worry about those just as much).<br /> We have been happy with it. After going through a few of the Crane ones that always get gross and can't be cleaned completely, I decided I'd rather use ones with filters. The filters aren't that expensive, the unit stays clean, and it's cheap. Definitely worth it and kid friendly. We have two cheap humidifiers that have to be put on the table so it's out of reach of the twins. They were trying to lift the container where the water goes. </p> <p>I would suggest going refurbished. " Its competitors require multiple cleanings per month, but Venta recommends rinsing this unit every two weeks and thoroughly cleaning it every six months." They admit that it is expensive, but recommend it for people who want to clean the humidifier less frequently which is what we needed.</p> <p>We have been VERY happy with it!
