I'm really curious to hear the replies because where I'm at, people seem to take their newborns out in the snow ... daily! I don't know if it's just a cultural thing, but you see people pushing their prams in the snow all the time - as in it's snowing and freezing, not just with snow on the ground.

I'm from Southern California, every instinct tells me to bundle up and sit by the fire and I'm just amazed how people take their babies out in this weather. A friend of mine is also a foreigner and was wondering the same thing -- she says all her relatives bundle their newborns to take walks everyday, it's supposed to keep them healthy!

I've been curious to see if that's how it is everywhere it's cold or just here in Sweden.

Really looking forward to more replies!

Almost every day, but for limited amounts of time when he was a newborn. I used a bundler similar to what Venice4504 used and just plopped him in his pram attachment with the wind cover zipped up.

My husband is a bit better about it. I'm a nervous nelly even though we have a super warm puffy snow suit. If it's below freezing I try to limit her outside time a lot. If it's above freezing she seems to be fine for 1/2 hour or so, sometimes longer on a walk about.

I take him out all the time! He's got something similar to this:
http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=868385&locale=en_US&kwid=1&sem=false&sdReferer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gap.com%2Fproducts%2Fbaby-boys-outerwear.jsp

And it keeps him warm enough he does get all sweaty.

We were super careful with taking both Charlie and Olive out when we went out, but they both loved it! We loved it too, since the cold knocks them out like a charm! :-)

I'm in Florida so we haven't had much cold yet. But when we do get cold fronts I don't like to keep her out long. It's obviously not as cold here so we can still leave the house, we just won't sit at an outside restaurant like we normally do.

Not for a long period of time as an infant but as a toddler it is OK to go out and play since they run around so much I feel like that keeps them warm.

I struggle with taking her out in the cold... even bundled up.
For those of you that live in cold states during the winter... How often does your child leave the house?
