We saw at 5w2d. We had incorrectly dated the conception and our oldest was measuring at 5w2d at our first appointment when I thought we were more like 6w5d. We were able to see the heartbeat which gave us reassurance even though he was measuring smaller than we expected (the next appointment's measurements at about 7weeks confirmed that we had misjudged the conception date).

They did scan, and we saw the heartbeat!

@bees_knees: yep, that included the 'free weeks.'

Based on last period, due date is 12/27 which would put me at 6w6d today. She initially said that I was measuring 6w exactly, though. I peppered her with questions if I was measuring behind, if the sacs looked good (yes), and if the heartbeat was strong (140). She kept measuring different angles and adjusted to 6w2d today. So my practice said they adjust due date if it's +/- 5 days, so they would have made me 1/2/18 if I were at 6w but with the 6w2d measure, they'll leave it at 12/27 because it's not a big enough change. So we'll see what happens! Just hugely relieved that everything looked good. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

We went in at 6 weeks exactly and didn't see it but I have a tilted uterus which makes it harder. At 6+4 I went back in and they saw it but again because of the angle it was really hard. If you happen to know your uterus is tilted definitely let them know.

With my daughter, we went for a scan at 5w4d and no hb yet. Went again at 6w4d and there was a heartbeat but it was lowish and they thought it had just started in the last 2-3 days. This pregnancy, I went in at 6w2d and it already had a very strong heartbeat!

@starchild: with DD I saw one at 7w on the button. I didn't go earlier. With DS at my 7w scan they only found a sac. I was sure of dates so thought that I was having a MC. Two weeks later at my follow up the baby and heartbeat were quickly found and he was measuring right on 9w. Good luck to you!

Sounds like you aren't sure they are offering to do a scan at all, in which case - I would not at all be surprised if they don't. At our practice the standard is not to do any scans until 12 weeks unless you request one (ie for a reason like history of miscarriage or high-risk pregnancy etc.). I have had an early scan done though (for history of m/c) and saw a strong heartbeat at 6w2d.

Just double checking, but what was the date of your last period? Any chance you forgot your two "free weeks" and you're actually going to be 8w at your appt?

I'd also double check that they're going to do an US and not just a "prenatal advising" session or whatever they do with just the nurse.

Congratulations! :)

I saw it at 6+5. Super tiny but flickering away when they showed me. Very cool. I thought I was 6+2 by opks at that point but had wonky opks that month. I was 7w by lmp I believe and measured 6+5.

Thank you!

I just called to schedule a first appt. After she asked when my last period was, it was what she offered. I did not ask for one this soon and was pretty surprised they offered it. Hearing some friends say they had to fight to get in at 10w even, I figured may as well take it!

We saw one at 5w6d with my daughter, and there wasn't one at 5w5d with my current pregnancy (24w now). I understand right around 6 weeks is the earliest you'd see a hb, so you probably have a shot but I would say try not to worry if you don't see one? Easier said than done of course... good luck at your appt!

With my first baby it was 6w6d. With my second 6w exactly. I wouldn't have made an appointment that early but I had been bleeding and was pretty sure I'd miscarried - seeing a heartbeat was a big shock.

I think it could go either way on hb. With my second I saw the re at exactly 6w by my opks (not lmp) and we saw the hb (and measured 6w exactly too). She said she would have been happy with just a sac though and that the hesrt had probably just started beating in the last couple days. I think you have a good chance but doesn't mean anything dire if you don't see it.

Our first appointment is tomorrow! We're so excited but anxious too.

Based on my last period, they estimate I'll be 6w6d tomorrow. Based on the earliest I think conception is plausible, I think I'll be more like 6w3 days. I told them I was worried it'd be too soon and she said "if" the doc wants to try a scan that hb shows after 5w. Reading mixed things online. If they refuse to scan or worse, scan and don't find it and say YET, it's gonna be a long long long time till our next appointment. Anyone wanna reassure me? :)
