I feel like its just introducing foods like you would do with anything else right? You try a new thing for a few days, see how it goes over, and then move on to another thing. We started solids pretty early - 4.5 months? - but it was just like a taste of something a few times a day. We did the "safe" foods first (rice, oatmeal, sweet potato, squash, carrots, prunes, green beans, peaches, peas) every few days. Then we moved on to yogurt. No reactions, so we added in a few other fruits and vegetables - blueberries, raspberries, spinach, apples, etc. Once we had a foundation of solids we knew were safe, we thought we'd try mixing in some "allergen-y" foods.

We couldn't find Bamba snacks, so I think I mixed a little PB2 powder I already had into DS' oatmeal or yogurt around 6, 7 months? I gave him a few bites of the mixture and kept some children's Benadryl on hand in case I needed to give him some on the way to the ER. Then I watched him like a hawk the rest of the day. He seemed okay so I offered a little more the next day, etc. We did the same for egg yolks, silken tofu, and almond butter.

He had a reaction to strawberries and asparagus (two foods I've heard cause reactions commonly) when we first tried them so we asked our doctor about it and she said just wait a month and try again. So we did and he was fine. He got a bad rash and runs with whole cow's milk when we tried at 11.5 months, but we just waited until 13 months and he went to it with no problems. As of now, he has no known allergies. (Knock on wood).

I gave DD peanut butter on the way in to our 6 month pediatrician appointment.

I have given her purées that contain strawberries. She tasted a little bit of my scrambled eggs at a restaurant. And we also gave her a purée with oranges (DH's mom is allergic).

In general though, I am just trying to expose her to as large of a variety of foods as I can and I have children's Benadryl on hand in case of a reaction.

So early allergen introduction is the new hotness. Everyone IRL is asking me if I've introduced allergens yet. Friends started asking me at 4 months. I asked them how I was supposed to introduce allergens at 4 months to an EBF baby and nobody had a response so I ignored it.

Now at 6 months the pediatrician told me to get started, early and often. She specifically mentioned these http://www.amazon.com/Bamba-Snack-Peanut-8-Count/dp/B0078DPBII

What specific foods are you introducing and when?

I'm nervous. I introduced egg yolk to LO1 as her second food and she had a skin reaction (as she did to her first food avocado). I got quite the lecture from the allergist. How quickly things seem to have changed.
