Our bedtime is usually around 7:30, but sometimes I put her down at 6:30 if she misses a nap. It doesn't seem to affect how long she sleeps overnight and it doesn't throw the next day off at all. She wakes up between 7-8 am no matter what time she goes to bed.

@.twist.: I've gone as early as about 6:00 (usually a 7:00 bedtime). She still sleeps until about 6am. Somedays she's up earlier, some days later- but the early bedtime doesn't seem to have much to do with it.

On days when naps were terrible (like both were less than 30 minutes) I've taken her for a walk so she can get an extra 20 minute nap in, always waking up before 4ish. But I've found she does sometimes have trouble falling asleep when we do that (now that she's older, that was never the case when she was younger).

When she's super tired and crank I wear her while I cook, but have to keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn't doze off. I give her snacks, too, which helps.

I would put her down early. Sometimes we'll skip bath or story time to speed things up.

I def do! I read somewhere that it's good sleep hygiene. She doesn't sleep well at daycare, so on the days she goes, I put her to bed a full hour earlier. If I don't she has a complete meltdown, and I can't say as I blame her.

Yes, I'll push her bedtime up based on her cues - it's usually just around 30 min earlier or so.

@.twist.: depends. sometimes she'll wake up per usual and sometimes early.

As I sit here paying for not doing a early bedtime because I didn't know she missed nap time completely today....

We had to do it for the first time tonight! She was IN bed by 7, instead of starting bedtime routine at 7:30. I know its not early compared to some...but early for us!
Not sure if she'll get up earlier tomorrow or not! I hope not.

Early bedtime, I usually just skip the bath. Last night lo wasn't feeling too well and was super grumpy so I got her to bed at 6.45 when she's usually in bed between 7.30/8pm.

Our bedtime is 7-730 because of this. Cranky or bad nap and bedtime is 7 other wise closer to 730.

If I'm expecting to put her down at 7 then we must eat dinner at 6 on the dot.

I'll move bedtime up to about 6.30pm if A. skips a nap or is extra tired. I just do everything earlier - dinner time, bedtime routine etc. On weekends its pretty easy. During the week I make sure I have some quick meals on hand just for her so I can feed her dinner as soon as she gets home from daycare and then my husband and I eat later.

If your LO has a crappy day of naps, or something extra happened during the day to make them super tired, do you out them down early for bed?

If so, do you move up dinner time and bedtime routine, or do you skip anything? (Obviously not dinner lol).

If not, how do you keep your LO from having major meltdowns?
