Apparently it was early labor that quickly progressed into active labor! Once I knew I was definitely in labor, the whole process took about 4 hours! When I got to the hospital, I was already 7cm and in transition. I left triage about 25 mins later and was 9.5cm when we got to the delivery room! I have a friend who had a similar experience a few months ago and her husband ended up delivering their daughter at home. My sister had an incredibly fast labor with my first niece so I've been worried about something similar happening to me. This time, my new OB started checking at 38w and offered to do a membrane sweep last week at my 39w appointment. I declined and she was pretty confused about why I wouldn't want to try to "move things along" at that point. I'm happy to let my body do what it's meant to do, I just wish I could be certain I'll know when it's happening. </p>
