Someone in my due date group talked about this -- I'm about to run into a meeting (the real sign of an addict, HBing before a meeting), but check out the August 2014 boards. It's within the last page of posts.

AP here too... I remember starting to feel flutters low and to the left at around 17-18 weeks. I distinctly remember at 20 weeks (it was on memorial day sitting on the beach house porch) my hand was on my belly just under my ribs and that was the first time i felt a kick on the outside.

AP and I felt it consistently by 22, and what I thought was possibly around 20. Thank goodness though because once she got started it was non-stop kicking for the remainder of my pregnancy, my bladder was her soccer ball! The U/S tech took pictures of it, she thought it was hilarious.

I had the same experience. I had an anterior placenta and felt him moving pretty early. First it was like being tickled from the inside and it turned to kicks and thumps very quickly.

ETA: it started around 15/16w

@Torchwood: I have an anterior placenta too and have felt movement since about 16 weeks. I started feeling it in the low abdomen (like kidney/bladder area) and since then it's also spread to the ribs. Even at 31 weeks I rarely feel it in the front of my belly, but feel a TON by my ribs, and lower belly. It probably doesn't help that I have a big layer of belly fat he has to get through in addition to the placenta :silly:

@Adira: I've never felt anything delicate. People ask about "butterfly wings" and "bubbles" and I have no clue what they're talking about. These have been thumps and bumps from the beginning. That's why I was so unsure whether they were for real early on, because they seemed too solid for such a little itty baby! It does seem like a lot of what I feel is more inside, like bladder or cervix, not outside. But she's gotten to where I can pretty frequently (multiple times a day) feel her from the outside, and has for a couple of weeks now.

I had an AP and it took a while to feel definite movement - probably close to 22 weeks.

@Torchwood: Oh, gotcha! I'm sorry about your previous losses. :( I've HEARD that you feel movement earlier with subsequent pregnancies, but I don't actually know that for a fact.

How hard are the kicks you're feeling? The first movements I noticed I thought was just gas bubbles, haha. Then I could tell they were definite kicks, but every so often, he would kick me in the side so my placenta wasn't blocking it and those felt soooooo much stronger than other kicks! Have you noticed anything like that yet?

@lawbee11: DH felt her for the first time this weekend, and could have MUCH sooner (I was feeling her with my hand by no later than 20 weeks) if he'd ever gotten timing right. I guess we'll see if I have a wiggler too!

@Torchwood: I had an anterior placenta, too, and my experience was similar. I first started feeling movement at 18w, definite kicks by 20w and DH could feel kicks from the outside by 21w. Granted, my LO is a wiggle worm so your theory could be true!

So, I confirmed at my last ultrasound that I definitely have an anterior placenta, which is, of course, typically associated with not feeling movement until later than usual, like 22+ weeks. The thing is, I felt first possible movement around 14 weeks, which became definite by 16, and frequent/regular by 18. Now, at 22 weeks, she's kicking me almost non-stop (especially in the bladder, holy crap). Should I just assume she's unusually active, and possibly be prepared for an active baby when she's here? (http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/active-baby-in-the-wombAnyone have any experience with this, or an explanation as to why my experience is so different? Would the fact that she's consistently been hanging out VERY low be a factor? I asked the ultrasound tech, and she was *really* surprised I felt so much so early, especially as a first time mom.
