@Dandelion: hey there. I was just thinking that I should update this thread, so thanks for checking in!

Eta: I'm sorry you're feeling lousy too.

So the short answer is I'm sort of feeling better. I started b6 last week, but it did very little to help (or maybe it did, but I still felt like crap). It is absolutely worst between about 4 and 9 pm-every day last week, I was pretty much incapacitated, and since DH worked evenings every day, I was pretty much in survival mode. Awful, awful, awful- I dont know how you ladies with toddlers do it.

It let up a bit on Thursday and Friday, and was more mild on Saturday, but I could feel it coming back last night. I feel nauseous pretty much most of the day, but the nights are worst. I can get by with eating lots of fruit, some carbs, and protien, along with tons of seltzer water and tea during the days, but nothing, not even a nap, helps at night. I talked to my doctor today, and they are calling me in some Zofran today.

Thanks so much for your help!

@megz06: congrats! Come join us on the April mamas board!

With my first I was sick before I got a BFP, with my second, it's been more severe (hypremesis both times), but didn't start until 6 weeks and still going strong at 12.5 (first preg sickness lasted until 18 weeks). If you find the usual MS treatments work for you, good! If you're at the place where nothing is working and you can barely get out of bed, don't delay and ask your doc for Zofran/ odansetron. The earlier you get on top of it, the better you'll fare. No matter what, it will pass, you will like food again someday, and you'll have an adorable baby worth all of it. Good luck!

And I can't recall why it has to be the one over the other, but I did read it had to be that one. B6 alone may help for the day though! I never tried it alone.

@LovelyPlum: you'll want the Doxylamine and not the Diphen type. It's not a gel cap, it's like a tablet. Super tiny but tastes like hell so drink with a big gulp of water! good luck!!

@LovelyPlum: I had MS from the day I tested, 10 DPO, until 16 weeks. Some days were better than others, but it was there right from the start. I had a lot of saltines and ginger ale, and also a lot of carbs. I also always felt better after throwing up so I didn't try to hold it in like I usually do since I hate barfing (I know everyone hates barfing). Hope your MS doesn't last, but its a good sign!

Thank you ladies! I did ok today...not great, but I made ot through work. I can no longer stand the smell of bay leaves, but what are you gonna do? Otherwise, eating constantly did me a small bit of good until I could come home and lay down.

Quick question: i think I got the wrong unisom :( Actually, I got something that was generic diphenhydramine, and it seems like that is the main ingredient in one type of unisom, but not the other. Should I return it? I'm so bummed!

Still going to do b6 tonight, and I really hope that helps!

So happy for you! And yes, my food aversions started the week we got our BFP (maybe 1 week later).

I found that drinking lots of water was key ... and eating a piece of fruit or some fresh veggies between meals. OH, and embarrassing amounts of sparkling water and ginger ale (I haven't touched the stuff since week 7).

These are good signs that your hormones are raging!! :)

One of my friends is preggo with her third babe, and she always gets MS really quickly. I think everyone is different, I wouldn't necessarily believe the "general rules" about when things start in pregnancy. Mine started around 5 weeks. I too am sensitive to hormone changes! Even for just my period, I would be a raging monster one minute and a weeping mess the next. Lucky DH! ;-)

ETA: I ate stouffer's mac and cheese about 3 times a week for a few weeks... only thing I wanted!

Mine kicked in full time at 6 weeks, but I definitely had days of nausea before that.
Ginger ale or sparkling water, ANY plain carbs (mashed potatoes were awesome), and almonds were great for me. Really, anything that even remotely sounded good seemed to help; and I found that as soon as I got hungry, the nausea came back.

@LovelyPlum: I was pretty much constantly nauseous from 3+ weeks (a little more mild) to about 12 weeks, when it tapered off. I had zofran from 6+ weeks after the first appt. Defintely sounds like that could be early m/s. :(

There are all kinds of remedies (those sea bands around the wrist, ginger gum, ginger ale, preggie pops, carbs, snacking) but you just have to try them all and find what works for you. Ginger ale worked a little for me but mostly zofran on bad days.

I tried ginger (gum, crystallized, candies, etc), sea bands, eating small frequent meals, exercising, preggie pop drops, and sadly nothing really worked.

When do you go to your OB? I got a prescription for Zofran and that saved me.

I had it a bit around 4 weeks if I delayed eating in any way but the real MS didn't really start until 5w5d. The only thing that has helped for me is taking 50 mg of B6 daily and eating small snacks really frequently. Carbs are going to be your BFFs. I am hoping that this early MS is a great sign for you that your HCG is getting really high already!! Still thinking sticky thoughts for you, hon!!

@LovelyPlum: Congrats!!! I've been following the July POAS board a little but must've missed this  So excited and happy for you!!

As for the morning sickness, mine kicked in around 5-6 wks but my MIL told me hers starts at before 4! She said she got sick way before she missed her period with all 3 of her kids.

I know you've probably seen me go on and on about unisom + B6 but it really has saved me. I put up with M/S for about 2-3 weeks before I gave in and I am still taking it (at 16wks)!

Eating right before bed and even in the middle of the night seemed like the only other thing that helped me, as well. Constantly. eating. all. day! haha

Did anyone else get morning sickness very early on in pregnancy?

I know it doesn't typically set in until about 6 weeks, but I'm pretty sure it is visiting me early . I'm 4 weeks today, and for the last few days, I've had near constant nausea. It started sporadically around 7 dpo, and it has only gotten worse since then. I know I'm sensitive to hormone changes, so maybe that explains it?

At any rate, I'm thrilled to be pregnant, but if I'm honest, this isn't super fun. Any advice on how to deal? Carbs and eating frequently seem to help, but not a lot. Thanks guys :)
