Exactly what Silva said.... RLP feels like an intense/painful pulling sort of in that diagonal line that runs between your groin and hip. I'm only 5 weeks and have been having it pretty intensely. I've read that it can happen early with second and subsequent pregnancies. That feeling is unmistakable!

Thanks!

It's good to know those are two separate things.

Sometimes the dull ache is there for a while, but when it goes away, I'm paranoid something's wrong. @_@

@stiletto_mom: I only had the light cramping through 8-9 weeks. For me, the round ligament pain didn't start until a few weeks into my 2nd tri and continues to get more frequent. That happens when I get up too fast or roll over in bed too quickly.

@stiletto_mom: I had a lot of dull cramping very early with my first pregnancy! It went away eventually then I got round ligament pain but it felt very different. I think that was caused by the baby starting to get much bigger.

So this dull ache eventually turns into round ligament pain?

Is the dull ache around the entire pregnancy?

It's totally normal, but it's not round ligament pain. That ligament runs along the side of your uterus. RLP feels like shooting/stabbing/pinching on the side of the uterus.

Totally! I always felt a dull ache in early pregnancy. It's a little unsettling but totally normal!

My first trimester round ligament pain felt like I had done a ton of ab exercises and I had really sore lower abs. My OB said it was my uterus stretching.

This is normal. It's likely your uterus stretching.

I know that round ligament pain is more predominent in the second trimester, but I wouldn't describe my "cramps" as sharp or anything.

They don't even feel like typical period cramps.

I'm maybe 5 weeks? I feel like a dull ache in my uterus and I think it might just be my uterus growing, I'm not sure. But the pain comes and goes.

Is this still considered round ligament?

How long does this last? The entire pregnancy?
