I started with the demi and wore them until they got uncomfortable. Meaning the baby hated them as they would dig in a bit when I was sitting. Then I moved to the full panel. I don't think I would have liked the full panel in the beginning.

Another suggestion to go try some on. I wore old navy Demi panels my entire pregnancy and postpartum. I don't usually love ON jeans, but I loved these.

Agree with others - just go try some on! I'd recommend trying lots of brands in both demi and full, then see how you feel. Just like with normal jeans, fit varies significantly - eg. Gap jeans were saggy on me, but other people swear by them. I managed to get by in stretchy skirts till about 20 weeks, then got full panels because I preferred them. Plenty of people prefer the demis, though.

@T.H.O.U.: This. My husband commented this morning that I had a lower gut - so glad to read someone else saying you carry low in the beginning. He made me feel like I was smuggling brownies in my uterus.

I went straight to full panel around 11 weeks. I got the ones with a really stretchy panel (almost like a nylon) for work dress pants, and they were super comfy, and I wore them right through to when I finished work in August 4 days before she was born since it was an air conditioned building. And quite honestly, I still wear them now sometimes 5 mos PP.

Like others, I used a bella band to keep my full panels up until my belly could hold them up on their own. I caved at 16 weeks for them, and don't know why I didn't do it sooner!

I got full panel around 9 weeks. I like them, but I agree that sometimes they do get itchy. Tucking a cami into them under my shirt helps, though. I liked how they gave me a more round bump early on!

ETA: comfort is key, though! Buy whatever makes you not hate wearing clothes :)

Full! I wasn't a big fan of demi panels past 20 weeks. and Honestly, the full panels fit just fine, even in the beginning. Although after about 30 weeks, none of the panels were comfy, so I just wore dresses constantly!

i loved the full panels. i even wore maternity shorts on vacation 4 months after i had my baby. maternity shorts are the bomb. i just folded them down and that worked fine. i don't think they'll have a problem with them staying up.

I say try them on and buy what's most comfortable right now! I was never a fan of the demi panel, they always felt like they were squeezing me in the wrong places. Full panel was way more comfortable for me, and I folded them down early on.

BUT my favorite for the first two trimesters were these 'early and after' jeans from Pea in the Pod. They are kind of in between, and they wouldn't have been comfortable at the end, but I was due in July and didn't really wear pants for the last two months anyway, because of the heat. Plus they were better than full or demi panels as I lost the baby weight. I got them during a sale but definitely got my money's worth:

I wore demi panel pants for the first ~18weeks, but much prefer the comfort and look of the full panel. Unfortunately, the full panel just didn't stay up on my belly until mid 2nd tri, and would just bunch up, uncomfortably. I carried on the smaller side, so it just depends what kind of bump you're rocking!

I voted full panel, they were the most comfy throughout and I thought they gave the belly a nice shape. Also, the Demi panel cut into my early pregnancy bloat/belly oddly and gave me a bad case of (uncomfortable) muffin top.

I voted Demi. I'm due in July, and only plan to have one pair of maternity pants to get me through the next month or so (I wear a lot of leggings and dresses right now), cause there is no way I'll need pants from mid-March on. I plan to buy full panel capris for the spring, and shorts for summer.

@mrskc: This is what I did, too. It's super easy just to fold down the panel until you want the full panel coverage but I found the demi panel maternity jeans to be super uncomfortable and they always felt like they would fall right off.
