@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I just wanted to chime in and say dd is doing the same thing! And she's only a couple days older than your ds. My mom keeps telling me she thinks she's teething because of it too, but I think she's just drooly and sucking/chewing on her hands for comfort.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: people always think babies are teething! Like other people... Older people. Random strangers. Babies drool and babies love to mouth things. The nice thing about teething is you can blame stuff on it. Poor sleep, fussiness, etc. but yeah random people decisively declaring "he's teething" all the time!

My LO has been the same way for the past 3 months and still no teeth yet. Multiple (older) women have told me he must be teething, and I just smile and nod. I think it's just something people say.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: LO got her first teeth at 4 months on the dot and teethers were useless for us since she couldn't really hold on/control it. Definitely not behind! I agree with previous posters that there's not much you can do. I am never sure DD is teething until I see teeth.

I agree with others that these may OR may not be signs of early teething. Unfortunately, if he IS teething, there's not a ton you can do with teethers and stuff because they just don't get it at that age. We tried everything for my DD (she got her first two teeth the week before she turned 4 months old) but in the end just had to ride it out until she was a little older and could understand that cold or chewy stuff helped soothe her.

It may be nothing, or it may be teething. Both of my kids started this at three months, but it took another month and a half for the first teeth to pop through... which is still pretty early so most teethers were too big for them. I tried to find teethers that a small baby can hold and gnaw - the best one was a Razberry.

Chewing on hands is a normal developmental activity for a baby at that age. It does not necessarily mean teething. And babies drool. It's what they do. My older son started drooling like crazy and gnawing on his hands really early but didn't get any teeth til almost 8 months old. My baby now is doing the same thing, has been for a while, is 6 months old and no sign of teeth yet.

Could be teething, but could be just normal baby stuff (that is a very mouth-y, drool-y age in general). Mine went through something similar at that age and everyone was convinced it was teething but I kept checking her gums and knew she wasn't (she actually didn't get teeth until 11 months). If he is happy, no need to change anything at all. We never used teethers for our LO and it was always fine.

My DD started drooling like crazy around 3 months. sucking on hands etc is really common for that age. she got her first tooth at about 6 months. But i'm sure the early teething started around then. Nothing to worry about and we liberally gave Tylenol/Advil when there were signs of discomfort.

I think teething is an ongoing process that can start quite early and can start a while before you even see teeth close to the surface. My daughter did the same with the excessive drooling, however she did cut her first tooth around 3 months. By 6 months she had 3 teeth and at 9 months she has 5 teeth. I gave her celery sticks to chew on and she liked them and frozen celery sticks were a big hit. Some kids like to suck on cold wet cloths.

She never had a soother and doesn't really eat teethers. She didn't much care for a Sophie she was given at Christmas.

Teething is not something you need to see a Dr for unless anything concerning is going on that may be something else or the babe is in a lot of pain. DD was not much of a paci baby (occasionally for the first 3/4 months) and also did not take teething rings. I can't remember when she got her lower bottoms but I do remember she drooled for a long time before they came. I found this chart to be helpful http://incredibleinfant.com/teething-baby/signs-of-teething/

My mom thinks LO is teething. He's almost 3 months. He is drooling and sucking on his hands. He has been drooling lately, but finger sucking occurred from day one. He isn't overly fussy, but last night he fought sleep to practice rolling on his tummy and lifting his neck up. He is sucking extra hard when he nurses.

I looked up teething signs and read some old HB threads, but I'm just not sure if he is teething. I can't take him to his pediatrician because we are staying with my mom for two weeks. LO rejects a pacifier and I didn't bring any of the teethers he was gifted since teething usually starts at 7 months.

If your LO didn't like a pacifier would they take a teether? I'm wondering if I should just pick up a teether to test out if he is in fact teething.

Thanks
