@creativemomma15: how many naps does your LO take? Early wakeups was always a sign of transitioning to fewer naps for my LO.

For daylight savings we plan on stretching bedtime ~30 minutes later and sticking to our usual get-out-of-bed time which is 7am. My son is pretty good though and just lays in his crib until we get him regardless of when he wakes up (though it's usually between 6:30-7:30).

Thanks, everyone. I know the week after next will be brutal to some degree. We're struggling through 5-5:30 wake ups daily and have tried a few things. She'll change for a few days and then go right back to the early wake up. I'll try to update this post after next weekend.

The time changes are opposite for babies and toddlers. It's been that way for me for 6 years now...I think this one will be the first he will understand, because of the clock in his bedroom. It is easier to get them to bed, but the mornings are rough at first. Just make sure, like @BananaPancakes: said, stick to your usual bedtime, and eventually it'll even out, although it'll take a few days.

Our very first time change last year was during a period where my LO was waking early. Unfortunately, it resulted in like 5 am wakeups for a few days, but we got though it and his schedule went back to normal. I don't think there's any real trick here; there will very likely be few days that are not fun. Stick to his schedule very closely at that time and just doing that should adjust well within a week.

My Isis consultant said the key to shifting their circadian rhythm later is BRIGHT LIGHT in the evening, not just keeping them up later. Expose them to any kind of light you can, sunlight as late as possible, etc, and move it back by 15 mins or so per night until the time change. Also don't go get them until 'wake' time if you know they aren't hungry, etc. If it's 6:30am, even if baby is up at 6, leave her until 6:30am.

I'm bumping this old post because this is me right now. LO sleeps very well through the night, but can't seem to sleep past 6. We've tried earlier bed times and later bed times. She is often so tired in the mornings as if she wanted to sleep more. I am dreading next weekend. Any been through this?

My DS used to go to bed around 7:30 and would sleep until 6:30. He would sometimes wake up once for us to give him his pacifier again, but hasn't eaten in the middle of the night for months. Now, this past week, he has been waking up at 5:30 or 5:45 all of a sudden. We can sometimes get him to just stay in his crib and play. Today, though, he woke us a 4:45! It just seems like it is getting earlier and earlier and I am dreading the time change coming up! We've tried putting him to bed at 7 and also a little later like at 7:45 or 8.

Any tips or ideas for why this is happening or what to do?
