Early wakeups were the bane of my existence for a long long time. Apparently it's harder for them to link to the next sleep cycle around that hour since it's close enough to a real wakeup time. My lo started doing this around 5 months and after a month of fighting it, I started nursing him back to sleep. He grew out of it on his own. I'd give it a week or two see if you're baby goes back normal. My lo was a bit extreme.

@gotkimchi: yeah and I don't like it being all artificially bright in here- the softer lights are nicer. But I'll take super fluorescent lights over 4 am wakeups...

@Foodnerd81: yes :( I try to keep lights on but it seems dark to me even with them all on. I can't wait for it to be lighter out!

Did it get worse with daylight savings time? I read that with it getting dark so early their circadian rhythm starts thinking it's nighttime at 4 when it's getting dark, which leads to earlier wake ups. To counteract keep bright lights on until half an hour before bed (I type this as we sit in a pretty dim room- oops). Worth a try I guess.

Idk what to do with my 10.5 month old! She has been getting up super early like 4:20! Not good! Bedtime use to be 7 and she was still waking at 5 and seemed overtired so we moved bedtime up to 6 but it hasn't helped! She won't take a late afternoon nap so we can't keep her up until 7 anymore. Mom wants sleep!
