@MapleMoose: omg it would be epic!

@Ajsmommy: wow, yea 3:30 is not ok! my LO used to be chill in her crib, until she turned into a devil baby these past 2 weeks :bummed: i hope it works for you!

I'm terrified too! My DD has always been early to bed and early to rise. We usually get up between 430-5, 530 on a good day! So with DST that's not cool!! 330 wake up, no can do. I am just planning to let her be in her crib if she wakes up that early and go get her when it's time. She's usually pretty chill so I'm hoping this will work.

@MapleMoose: haha maybe we can get our girls to skype with each other and we can get some am sleep - they can show off their jungle gym moves :silly: and i seriously hope that's true about #2, but at this rate LO will be an only child :)

@Adira: I was actually wondering if the dark was bothering her. we just moved and her temporary room is super dark, whereas we were in the city where it's NEVER dark. so there might be something to that, or it's just wishful thinking ;) she also did this when she got her first 2 teeth, which is why i thought teething, but who knows?

@Mamasig: ha, i guess it's at least good to have the bad sleeper first, so you don't have high expectations! my LO didn't used to wake this early, so i'm hoping it's a phase.

@MapleMoose: Good luck! I'd rather have the no sleeper first! I totally prepared myself for another bad sleeper, but so far little brother is wonderful at 5 months. And I did nothing different. Big bro just hates sleep and has low sleep needs. Baby bro actually fell asleep by himself in the rnp while I was in the shower. What?! Unheard of with big bro.

@Adira: Try it but give it 2-3 days before giving up - it takes their bodies that long to adjust! I have a friend from my mom's group doing it at the same time and by day 3 her kid was sleeping til 6:30.

@JoJoGirl: I was wondering if it's part of the regression too. This is what happened during the 4 month regression for us - he just started waking up earlier. I wonder if maybe keeping him up longer would help - I'll try that tonight!

@Adira: I wonder if it could be part of the 18 month sleep regression - our LO has also been waking up between 4:30-5am for months and I can't think of any other reason. We started putting her to bed SUPER late (like 8/8:15am) to try and push her awake time later and it's working - she's been getting up around 6am. DST will mean it's 9pm "current time" so hopefully the transition won't be too bad.

@Pirouette: @MapleMoose: DS1 was always a naturally early riser (around 5). But I'm happy to say as he got older, he started to sleep later. Most days are now between 6:30 to 7:30.

It's so crazy how kids are different. DS2 wakes up between 7:30 and 8:30 usually! And he sleeps 11-12 hours overnight! Big brother has done that about 3 times in his life.

@MapleMoose: @Pirouette: That's Xander lately too. He used to wake up and would play in his crib, but now he just cries until you come get him! Ugh. I think part of the problem is that it's so dark out?? Maybe DST will actually help! :goodluck:

@Adira: eek! what's up with that? did they not get the memo DST hasn't happened yet??

@Mamasig: one day i could handle...but not sure i'll be that lucky!

@MapleMoose: haha this is us lately! seriously, it sucks. it used to be that she'd just babble until 7am and then i'd go get her and she'd be standing and grinning...nope not lately. now she yells/whines until i get her. i try to bring her to bed with me so i can close my eyes, but she's having none of it. it wouldn't be so bad if she was STTN, but she's not, so i'm literally not sleeping at all these days.

I'd just start pushing bedtime back gradually (if it's 7pm now, push it toward 8pm in 15-min increments). There's a great blog post up by ex-Isis sleep consultants - http://childsleepscience.wordpress.com/2014/10/20/fall-back-the-end-of-daylight-savings-time/

No advice, just commiserating. LO is 12 months and has always been an early riser. Normal wake up time is around 5/5:30am (used to be 4:30am so yay for that!). And when she's awake for the day she screams like a banshee until we come get her so leaving her to fall back asleep is not an option. :bummed:

my LO has gotten 6 teeth in the past 2 weeks or so, on top of a bunch of other things going on. the result is she's been waking up way early lately (used to be 6:45, now it's between 5:30 and 6am). I'm trying to deal with that but then also looked ahead at the schedule and daylight savings time is coming up - EEK! any tips on how to prevent daylight savings from wreaking havoc on a baby already waking too early? 5:30 is bad enough, 4:30 is just not even possible for me! Is there anything i can do to fix this problem before DST makes it worse? she's 10 months btw.
